Headlights off

I was wondering if there was any way that the headlights could be turned off at night with the car running. My truck had an interior cancel light to do this but cant find one on this car. Any suggestions?

you have to "modify" the thing that does the auto light. I think there's a thread in the Tech & DIY section on this. You have to install a switch on a certain wire i think...

I just disconnected mine by unplugging the sensor. But it only works if the parking brake is on, otherwise the DRLs are still on. I do hate the automatic headlights for this reason...

1. Turn off your engine.2. Engage your parking brake to ONE click.3. Start your car.4. Enjoy.Just release your PB and your lights will come on. I don't think this engages the parking brake entirely and I only use it for stationary parking usually anyhow. I notice no difference in performance with just one click though.

One click is enough to engage the (BRAKE) light on my dash... so I wouldn't dare drive with it like that. You could try to find the wire that provides power to the headlights and install a DPST (double pole, single throw) switch in the hatch panel of the dash. For those who don't know how a DPST works, it is a switch that controls two circuits with a single mechanism. One switch, both headlights.I wouldn't use a SPST switch for both unless you can find one with a current (amperes) rating high enough.
