Yeah.So for those who didn't figure it out on your own from the change in avatar (and that's ok, we still like you ), I turned in my resignation to TGIFor-the-love-of-god-i-hate-this-job...err, i mean fridays...on sunday. My last day is sunday october 8th. I attempted to quit once back in early august, but the regional manager begged me to stay and threw more money at me as well as some other promises to make my life better. So stupid me, I gave in and stayed, knowing full well it wasn't the smart move. Well, here I am, about a month and a half later, still as miserable as ever. Oh, and those promises the company made me? All but 1 remain UNfulfilled.I went on some interviews, and accepted a job as level 2 tech support for vonage. All in all, I'm taking a pay cut of about $17,840, or about 37%, by accepting this new position, but I was so friggen miserable, I took it anyway. Yesterday, my store manager again tried to convince me to stay, offering me even MORE money. As tempting as it was to take that even LARGER number, I stood my ground, and said no. So yeah, I guess the whole point is, as thrilled as I am to be getting out of this nightmare I call a job, I hope that taking such a significant pay cut doesn't bite me in the rear down the road...K, just had to share.

I have Vonage. I love it. Good luck with your new job. I know what it's like to be miserable at your job. That's how I felt at my old job. Can I call you if I have Vonage troubles?

You shoulda called 'em on the money offer. Cash up front..in your hand.I think you'll surprise yourself at how well you'll budget after the pay cut, but dang, 37% is gonna be a challenge.Good Luck!

congrats on getting out of that crappy job! change is good when your in a bad situation, im sure everything will work out good hard work pays off so maybe V will see all the hard work you do and make you a ceo

Good luck Mike That is quite a paycut but like silver said it is not always about the money. Look at me I left my job of 8 years to run a business (more $$) but I am very unhappy here. I am trying to get my old job back.Good luck once again. I hope you find lots of happiness and success at your new place!

Wow! Good for you. As long as you are able to still cover all you debts and still have some runnin' money, it was the best thing you did you yourself. You will move up in no time, I'm sure. Good Luck!

The only good news is that a 37% cut in gross pay does not mean 37% less net pay after taxes. It still hurts I am sure. Isn't Vonage that internet based LD service? I don't know everything but I don't see the big advantge for most people. I get my LD service via 600 minute AT&T phone cards when on sale at Target for $18. That's 3 cents a minute. I read that in the not too distant future all phone service will include unlimited free domestic LD. My brother has that now with Cincinnati Bell.

Vonage has unlimited local and long distance. Also, it is not subject to all the taxes that you find on your regular phone bill. When I had Verizon, half of my bill was taxes. You also get a really nice personal web page where you can go on line and review the history of oncoming and outgoing calls, listen to voice mail, and some other things I can't think of right now. If you use Vonage voice-mail (which is free) you can have your voice mail emailed to you. I think I'm paying $27.00 a month. Hey, I could be a Vonage salesman.
