Part numbers

Post by Pawel »

I need help. What are the part numbers for either Injen or AEM CAI? Do they also have the bypass valve?

Injen and AEM have their own websites to look up this information.http://www.injen.comhttp://www.aempower.comInjen CAI Part Numbers:Matrix XRS/Vibe GT: RD2075Matrix XR/Vibe Base: RD2065http://www.injen.com/toyota.htmlThey don't list the Vibe, but Injen intakes are the same part numbers for both the Vibe and Matrix.AEM CAI Part Numbers:Matrix XRS/Vibe GT: 21-466Matrix XR/Vibe Base: 21-469http://www.aempower.com/application/induction_ ... on.htmThey don't list the Vibe either, but I am going to assume they are the same as the Matrix here.AEM Air Bypass Valve part numbers:Matrix XRS/Vibe GT: 20-402sMatrix XR/Vibe Base: TBAhttp://www.aempower.com/application/induction_application.htm

I called AEM yesterday with the same question regarding the bypass valve. They don't have a bypass valve available for the CAI made for the Vibe. He said that the design is not suited for the valve and that it might pose more of a problem it you try to install one in it. The person I spoke to was really helpful. If you have any questions regarding this, call (310) 484-2322 ext. 247 and speak to Robert Green.

Based on some information I received for a trusted friend who knows a lot about vehicles. He told me the bypass valve is a good design and idea, but poorly executed. He recommended that I not buy it as there have been hydrolock failures even with the bypass valve and they valve itself deteroriates quickly. Just FYI.

That is kind of like what the technician told me over the phone. He said the only way that you were going to hydrolock the motor would be to completely submerge the filter element. The only way you are going to do that is to go throug a puddle that was at least a foot deep. The normal splashing, rain and snow would not affect this. I don't know about anyone else, but I try to avoid even the smallest puddles. Not because of water, but because you never know what is under it (ie. pothole, debris).

Which CAI would you guys recommend? AEM or Injen? I'm looking for more low & mid end gains.
