welcome to genvibecheck out the second to last post in the link, its from faultline.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4993as long as you stay out of boost with a turbo gas milage isnt going to change, whats the point of having a turbo if your not going to use it.if i won the lotto (like if it was $100k, some non life changing amount of several million), after payin for college i'd get a turbo

Welcome sir!Turbo would run you about $4000 but you have an automatic so it would be hard to get full potential from it and it would be hard on the tranny I think. The supercharger I like alot better just because turbos are overrated and s/c sound better. Besides, EVERYONE has a turbo now-a-days, they just remind me of the car sneezing so I feel compelled to say "gesundheit" everytime I hear the BOV of an EVO.Also, in essence a turbo is a bunch of random parts thrown togather to work and hopfully they do work because there is alot that has to be in tip top shape to function correctly. Supercharger is direct bolt on and it is made from GM/Toyota so you know it will work and last for a long time.A supercharger runs about $3200 from the dealer. Not as much, but not as much potential as a turbo...then again s/c has instant power and you dont have to wait for it to spool up. like you do with the turbo.I cannot even remotely afford either of those so I'm working towards a wet 50-shot of NX to give a little extra power and also to purge it and put on a sweet show

I always just assumed a supercharged engine had better acceleration than a turbo. but I geuss not necessarily.

(removed)...yeah whateva...you don no me! j/k I dunno...to tell you the truth im just getting fed up with four cylinders (removed)...My Vibe is slow and allways will be slow as I wont ever be able to afford a turbo or s/c (rather get a bike for $4000 anyways). BUT personally I have allways been partial to the supercharger just because they are few and far between especially on Vibes. Also in my eyes, a blower seems more professional, intimidating, and admirable. When I hear a BOV or a turbo spooling up next to me, the first thought that comes to my mind is "smart@$$ kid". When I hear the whine of a s/c, I think "woah what's that!?!?"It just seems like a turbo on the Vibes AT would destroy it. You probably wouldn't be able to boost it all that much. I gues I don't have room to talk though, I am not experienced with F/I.My friend Nick's 450 horsepower twin turbo 300zx was allways having problems. Same with my other buddy's turbo Golf GTI. I don't know too many people with s/c's but I've also not heard of any problems from them.

BTW tcam, purging is SUPOSED to be used to clear the nitrous lines of the old diluted nitrous to make way for the fresh nitrous from the tank. I plan to purge mine out the wheel wells when I get it. I'm going to end up purging like 80% of the nitrous and using like 20% but it's good for turning heads

Quote, originally posted by damronjr »Welcome to the site! This is a Vibe forum BTW.yes, i know. i've been here a lot longer than you. owned my 03 vibe GT for 2 yrs, and now Mav's 04 base vibe for 3 yrs, going on 4 now. and no problems with a S/C? doesn't damron have all kinds of probs with his? or is that just his poor luck? LOL there was another guy, greenfire that had a s/c AWD 1zz (i think it was a trix) that also went kaboom. but really, just like anything else, if you try to boost it too much than you run the risk of it going BOOM. as we say, you gotta pay to play.Quote, originally posted by Merzbow »My friend Nick's 450 horsepower twin turbo 300zx was allways having problems. Same with my other buddy's turbo Golf GTI.are those stock? i doubt your buddy's turbo'd 300zx is stock if it's running that much power. and golf GTI's are known for problems. with the exception of a few people that can't seem to keep their engines oiled, there seem to be a lot of turbo'd subes (stock or otherwise) here that haven't had any issues unless they do something stupid. and it's usually NOT the turbo, but the clutch. there are some Evo guys up here that have blown their motors but they also modified their cars and drove them hard. most of the time, it's not necessarily the turbo that breaks on the car, but the driver does something to break it. but that is true with any engine or car. poor CP got a dud of a vibe and his was completely unmodded! there's a lemon in every bunch!and don't get discouraged about your vibe. people don't buy a vibe because it's fast. it's practical and fun, gets great gas mileage, looks good (IMO), and FUN! it's not made to be super fast, just zippy with good fuel economy. the vibe is a great car! i miss my VGT very much in fact. different kind of vehicle from what i have now, but still was a great and fun car regardless! and Paul, you are lucky to have such a great and NICE car as the vibe. you've made yours into your own and it looks great. when i was in HS and college, i drove the family's 83 Toyota Tercel wagon. it was my granny wagon! LOL i was lucky to get 70 mph on the hwy! it had 13" wheels... ya, it was killer! ha ha ha!

(removed)...I don't want to hijack this thread anymore so this is my last comment. My life savings had $3500. I found an '88 Monte Carlo SS with only 70,000, brand new 350. I went and test drove it, ran flawlessly and sounded absolutely amazing. It was $3200. My mom bought the Vibe and took my money. She didn't want me to have a used car. Hey $3500 for a brand new car, I certainly am not complaining. HOWEVER, the Monte cost about $15,000 LESS than the vibe and had 4 more cylinders, probably close to 180hp more. And just thinking about the $900 cams that give you 5% gains, the $500 header that gives like 2hp, the $3200 superchager that gives 30+ horsepower...I could have that beast blown with some hardcore cams for about the same price and put out an extra 150-200hp!BUT, I love my baby and I wouldn't trade her for anything

And at first, some of them actually would get mad when they'd lose to me, but I've earned my respect now. lol. Now it's referred to by them as "the sleeper" lol

lol...all of my friends have the utmost respect for my Vibe.Sometimes while cruising I'll get the occasional "why are you driving your mom's car" line from some ignorant loser. One time I just paced next to the kid and stared at him, then shook my head violently and screamed at they emediately slowed down and stopped talking trash. The look on their faces was priceless when I did that (removed)...

Welcome to the site new guy When I first got a vibe my wife called it "mini V"in reference to "mini me" because she drives a van. When they are in the garage together their profiles look very similar. Its actually better than being called a station wagon which is actually what it is. Post some more pics though, the one I saw looked like you.

(removed)...I try to make people look stupid rather than argue or fight with them. It's more effective. This one time this kid had a white Trans Am with huge spinners on it. I asked him why he had spinners on a muscle car and he said "why are you driving your mom's car?" and I replied "because she made the down payment on it" and he just looked at me with a "caught off gaurd" face, then turned back and said nothing. In that situation I was the one provoking him, but I'm sorry, spinners on ANY car or truck is rediculous, not to mention on a trans am or any other muscle car is just sacrilegious!I got all kinds of fun stories but this isn't about fun stories, this is about the new guy!
