My wife's Accord had a nail sidewall puncture (in through the bottom and out the side, ugly) that could not be fixed on her now discontinued Michelin Artic Alpin snow tire. After a long search, I found a replacement: she bought them in the last year they were sold cause now X-Ice is standard. The existing snows are three season old and look really good but of course are not as deep a tread as the shiny new one. Question: Do I put the new tire on the front or the back?I'm concerned the new tire may cause a pull during a panic stop.Andrew

It really does not matter except for the tread wear you are going to incur this season... Put the two with the most tread on the fronts to start, the new one and the next with the most tread. And or put the new tire on the wheel that will most likely spin in the snow. You will get the most traction from that tire and wheel combo. Plus in the rain/sleet, it will shed the water better since it has the deepest tread and give better control.

front wheel drive vehicles you want to put new tires on the front. However with winter tires you need to keep in mind that if you put the new ones on the front and have worn out ones on the rear... you can increase the chance of a spin out.

Put the new one on the right front, it's the one that spins first.
