GTI wheels

My friend just got some new wheels on his GTI. we we're talking today and he told me to find out if his stock 18s would fit my Vibe So far, from what i've found, the bolt pattern is the same (5x100), the offset is 38 (does that mean they would stick out further than my stockers?), and the center bore is ~57.I've seen on here that you can get some kind of rings/adapters to fix the center bore issue. Where can I find some?Another thing would be the center cap. Do you think I could just go buy a pontiac cap and put it on? I guess I could paint it or something. Thanks for any info on this.

Depends on the width. The stock wheels are +32 or +35 offset so it would only be a 3-5mm difference. You wouldn't really notice it.You could just get some plain caps and then get the Pontiac arrows for the centercaps from

Those wouldn't look too bad. And if the center caps are already flat (as in the VW logo is not raised) you could just put the Pontaic stickers over the stock centers.

definately drop her if you get them... and the spokes look skinnier on the chop.If they were actually on your car... they would look a lot better then the chop. which is good cuz they do look pretty good on there.

thanks. I'm really excited about these. I've always liked lots of spokes (like the ones Blue Crush had). Now all I need are some adapters and tires.... EDIT: I've found a site for the adaptershttp://
www.prestigewheel.com/RetailHubRings.aspI'm not sure which ones I need tho. Can anyone help me? Or do you think I should just go to a local tire place?

yeah neither can I. it might be a whiles tho. Gotta get tires and rings. His old tires are about shot. Depending on how things go I might have enough for a set of tires soon. I've been looking on tirerack for some time now debating. I was originally gonna get a set of goodyear tripletreads for my stockers but then this opportunity showed up. The tire I'm kinda leaning toward now is the Avon Tech M550 A/S. they seem to be the best bang for the buck in this size.If anyone has any suggestions on tires (225/40/18) let me know, thanks

Can anyone comment on these or suggest some different ones?I'm looking for size 225/40/18. (prices from tirerack)1. Kumho Ecsta AST - $74 cheap & effective, but i've read some bad reviews2. Kumho Ecsta ASX - $82 I've heard nothing but good about these3. Avon Tech M550 A/S - $115 These seem to be good. A little more expensive, thoThe main thing i'm wondering about is the amount of milage I'm gonna get from these. The only one with a milage warranty is the ASX & it's only 30k miles. Is this pretty much what I'm gonna get for this size tire? Thanks for any info

I e-mailed discount tire direct (they sell rings on eBay) to make sure they had some that would fit. He said he didn't think that any were manufactured in that size and suggested I go to a machine shop and get some custom ones.I think the size I need is 54.06 inner diamiter 67 outside diamiter. Any one have an Idea how much that will cost?I'm going to wait until I know I can get the tires before I get too far in this. Speaking of tires... does anyone have any suggestions or opinions about the tires in the above post? Thanks

thanks nascar, I'm really considering those but do you (or anyone) know of any other tires out there with a higher mileage warranty? My wife doesn't really like the fact that most don't have warranties. Or is that irrelevant b/c of the 2/32 tread warranty thingy. I don't really understand about tire warranties Thanks for any info
