Silly car salesman!

Just got back from an oil change. My work schedule is crap and my selling dealer didn't really have any time available that was convenient for me plus they're not exactly in my back yard... So, I went to a nearby Hyundai dealer that does a no appointment necessary $21.95 oil change. There's this salesman there that I've dealt with before, once back in '99 when I was looking at a Sonata. And again last spring when I was looking for an Accent, he so conveniently went out to talk to me when I showed up on the lot... The first time around, this dealer didn't want to work with me on my trade. The second time around, this guy was rambling on about crap, f-this, f-that, blah blah blah. Really professional. Didn't know squat about the products he was selling. Talking up American cars and tallking crap about Hyundais. Yeah, that's gonna get you sales. This Hyundai (removed) was far more knowledgable of their entire line. And he had the nads to tell me that they probably weren't going to want my Vibe on trade-in. But if I wanted to attempt trading, I'd better go to a Pontiac dealer to have the thing appraised because they wouldn't be able to appraise it. Uh, ok... So, I went to a dealer that didn't treat me like a piece of crap and bought from them instead, can ya blame me?Anywho, I pull into the garage and that salesman was standing there talking to one of the service advisors. He just looked at me, looked at my car, and boy, if looks could kill! I'm thinking "screw you, I'm a paying customer, and you don't have to buy something here to get the oil changed here." He starts walking over to my car and looks it over, really stares hard at the back end... The whole time, I'm just staring at him, then he says "Yeah, I had to walk over to this thing to figure out what the hell it is! Looks like a Toyota or something!" I'm thinking, "HEY DUMB***! Not sure if you've NOTICED, but YOU SELL THESE CARS FOR A LIVING... And you DON'T know what it is???" That pretty well made it obvious he was scoping it out to see if he could find their tacky dealer badge on the back of the car. But sucks to be him, he didn't see any proof of the selling dealer anywhere on the car. And the service advisor asked me if I've been there before since my name wasn't in the system. Uh, nope, sure haven't! Mr. Salesman turns around and walks off, giving me that dirty F-U look the whole time.He probably went back in the shop while I was sitting around the waiting room and gave the oil changin' dude a twenty so he'd dump sand in my oil filter. "That'll teach that little *bleep* a lesson, next time he'll buy a car from me!"They did do a good job at changing my oil though. $14.00 after I supplied my own four quarts of 5W20. I pulled off the lot and parked at the restaurant next door and went over everything with a fine tooth comb to ensure no foul play took place. They did a good enough job, didn't look at all the stuff that my selling dealer would have, so I'll be going back to them next time. But all it really needed was an oil change and the price was right, too bad I have to fear the psychosalesman confronting me when I'm there. lol!Ah, no need to hold a grudge, people! Sheesh!

I, too, rarely use the selling dealer for service. So, I know EXACTLY the look you're talking about, as well as am more than familiar with the 'have you been here before? I can't seem to find you in our computer" line.Being the smarta&$ I am, I would have used the opportunity to tell the sales clown that if he had have treated me the right way, he would have sold me the Accent, instead of making me go somewhere else. It's a wonder that the sales clown has a job if he doesn't know the products he sells. Or is his Daddy the dealership's general manager?Anyhow, here's hoping to no sand in your oil!

Glad I'm not alone. Money is money, they should be happy that a customer would go there for service. That's money you gave to them, not someone else, so what if they didn't land the deal initially. The service dept guys were cool, they didn't mind that I brought the car in.I don't think this guy was related to anybody there... It does sound like he would be a GM's son. I'm sure it sounds like he's more of young punk... But he's approaching retirement age, although by the way he acts, you'd never know it. Guy's been there for at least a decade, maybe more, not sure how or why though. LOL! I haven't heard any strange noises, runnin' pretty quiet so hopefully the car's ok. LOL! It has oil in it, and I watched them pour my stuff in, so maybe it's ok. hehehe

Once I found the dealer I now use for service, and it was proven that they were a good bunch in Service, I solidified the relationship by asking them for one of their dealer stickers for the back of the Vibe. Mind you, I'm not always willing to advertise for free, but these folks have treated me pretty good over the last 39K miles.I'm sure it frosts the Pontiac dealer in town (crook, sham artist, and generally a thief) that he sees MY car going down the road with the name of the Pontiac dealer in the NEXT town on the back of it, especially since Ohio license plates have which county you live in on them)BTW, glad there's no sand in the oil!

I don't get how you guys can get such crappy service. Most everyone that buys a car from the dealership I work at, brings it here for service too.You should have talked to the sales guy and rubbed in how you got a good deal or something.

Actually I dunno how common that stuff is. But the rumor is that that kind of stuff happens pretty often.

Aww, we don't have people like you working at these dealers, that's how. hehehe!I dunno what the deal is, dang near everybody sucks!!! 0.1% of dealers, regardless of brand, may feel that "the customer is always right." The other 99.9% truly believe that "the customer is never right (not to mention STUPID) and enjoys being crapped on." Eh, not my style but I guess some dig it since there's plenty of web sites out there about that kind of thing. (removed)!Quote »You should have talked to the sales guy and rubbed in how you got a good deal or something.I should have. Hindsight is always 20/20. I could have said "Like my new car? I do... I drove an hour and a half to buy it from a dealer that wanted my business, gave me a great deal on my trade, and flat out didn't SUCK... Instead of driving 10 minutes and buying from YOU." I should have taken off my chrome license plate frame and put the one from the selling dealer on there before I showed up too. Oh yeah... I could have ended up with sand in the oil filter and cut brake lines! What a bonus! And get booted off the property with them yelling "you'll NEVER come here and pay us to work on your car ever again!" (removed)

Na, I don't have to take it to a dealer for the oil change or anything else for that matter. I just do it since I'd have to go to the dealer and get a filter anyway, might as well be lazy and have them do it for me even though I've got everything I need down at the folk's house to do it myself. As long as I save the receipts, which I do, everything is golden...I don't think these guys would ever do anything nasty, but it sure is fun to talk about. LOL! This kind of stuff really makes me appreciate the dealer that sold me the car that much more though. Good dealers are so, so, so hard to come by. I'll be stickin' with them.
