Chevrolet WTCC Ultra Concept @ 2006 Paris ShowRACY NEW CONCEPT TO WOW PARIS CROWDS!· Chevrolet presents Ultra-cool show-stopper· WTCC concept is ready to race· Designed by engineers across the globeThere’ll be some high octane thrills from Chevrolet at this year’s Paris Motor Show, with the debut of an all-new concept car designed to celebrate the brand’s motor sport heritage and push Chevy’s styling language to the extreme. The WTCC Ultra will be the focal point of the Chevrolet stand in Hall 5 at the Paris Expo, and is much more than just a styling study. For beneath the bold, muscular exterior, styled by 25-year old designer Ewan Kingsbury, is a fully working vehicle, that’s not just ready for the road, but raring to go on the racetrack. The concept clearly illustrates Chevrolet’s commitment to using GM’s global resources. Kingsbury himself works for GM in Australia, while development work on the concept was carried out in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. The Ultra’s engine was built in Korea, and the prototype was assembled in Japan. It’s equipped with a 190PS common rail turbodiesel engine, based on the 2.0-litre unit that will debut in the Captiva SUV and Lacetti models next year, and unlike most motor show styling studies is a fully-working vehicle, with performance to rival high performance petrol cars. The concept exists as a vision of a new generation of World Touring Cars, and follows on from the success of Chevrolet’s WTCC race team, which took its second victory of the season earlier this month at Brno in the Czech Republic. British driver Rob Huff successfully held off championship leader Andy Priaulx in his BMW, and set the fastest lap time, to lead from the first lap. Also drawing the crowds to Chevy’s stand at Paris will be the new Captiva SUV, which will reach UK showrooms in the first half of 2007, powered by a 150PS version of the 2.0-litre diesel engine or a 2.4-litre petrol unit.

And I bet the production version will have fricken piece of crap Continentals on it like GM puts on everything else now, not Kumhos like the artist intended which would have been a far better choice. LOL!

looking at those tires/wheelwells, thre's no room for movement. That car better have some really super tight springs on it. Bet it rides as smooth as a Conestoga

HAHAHAHA!!!! Gotta love the exhaust fire-fart in that 3rd pic! The engine probably just blew. If GM wants people to think they are reliable, putting a Korean motor in that thing is not the way to do it.

I should know, I dumped my Toyota for a Korean car... It's nowhere near as good as my Vibe, the engine doesn't sound like it's going to explode after a cold start, the transmission shifts good, damn thing has paint on it, nothing squeaks or rattles or is about to fall off. I can roll the windows down without fear of them exploding, The A/C works. Only have to do oil changes in the damn thing. What a piece of crap, give me my superior Toyota product back!

Hey, that's sarcasm right? 'Quote, originally posted by ColonelPanic »Yeah, what are they thinking? That's just stupid! Pieces of crap! I should know, I dumped my Toyota for a Korean car... Cause I've been known to be kind of slow.Since we're being sarcastic. I don't have any friends with brand new Korean products that have needed two new trannies before 20k miles. I don't work with someone who needed a new cylinder head with less than 10k miles. I've never worked with any Hyundai owners that have had 2 complete brake failures while driving and almost died because of it. Hey, sign me up because the Koreans have a quality reputation that's never been sullied.

I was just trying to point out that not all of them are pieces of ****. And crap like a Toyota CAN be but nobody ever wants to belive me that it is possible. Ooh, TOYOTA CAN DO NO WRONG! That's why I spent every week in the service dept. with the Vibe. You know people that have had bad experiences with them, and that sucks to hear... The one I have has been the most reliable and well-built car I've ever owned and somethig similar goes for everyone I know of that's had one in recent years.

I know. I believe you. Toyota has let themselves go in recent years. Just as you were burned by yours and will probably not buy 1 again for years for fear of those same problems, I will not buy a Korean product for fear of how awful they've treated my friends. If you ask me, the reason Toyota has let their quality suffer is due to the Korean imports getting better. They had to lower their quality to compete pricewise. This Vibe has been the most reliable car I've owned. I'm sorry yours was poo. Sorry mods for hijacking thread.
