I finally did this! No more batteries to replace and a remote in the console! I bought a used 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee visor off ebay and took the HomeLink transmitter out of it. The visor was completely destroyed when I was done too! No other way to do it. I had to make a tool to cut the headliner holes, three of them for the buttons out of an old piece of pipe. I entered the Vibes headliner though the map light and sunroof switch, plenty of room to work in too. Two wires, positive and negative for the transmitter and I soldered to terminals from the map light and common ground. I cut wires as a last resort. I made my own harness for the transmitter for serviceability however I doubt I will ever remove the Homelink and get rid of the car with it one day!

alright, what the hell is homelink?

LOL!!! It is an RF transmitter that can take the place of 3 remote controlls such as garage door openers or automatic gates, things like that. It programs itself from the remote you normally use. Pretty neat device!

nice mod... i would shoot myself trying to do that.I also would have no use for it either!!! Cool mod... congrats on conquering it

I have also done this install. I just finished it and was going to post it but did a search for HOMELINK and found this thread. I guess great minds think alike.

Yu can always also get a autodim mirror with the built in home link. Huyndias are populr for thaving those. So are nissans.try ebay.

i just found out recently that my car has one of these thingies in it! i didn't know what those three buttons were for. i have it programmed to open my moms garage door. pretty nifty.

I did the mirror thing - from a 2007 Maxima (2006 and newer had improved mirrors). Bolted right on, wired right into the sunroof ignition power and programmed it up - 30 minutes not counting the time to research the wiring for the mirror. VERY, VERY easy. It would be nice to have the compass one but homelink and auto-dim were my primary goals.http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...5.JPG
