Power windows on accessory

Has anyone rewired their power windows to work when the key is switched to accessory? I saw the thread with the windows on the delay before you opened the door. I just don't want to have to turn the key all the way back to run to roll the windows back up.On a side note, how difficult is it to power the 12v outlet all the time?

Rewiring the 12v to accessory is fairly easy, there should be a FAQ to it somewhere.Rewiring the windows is probably more complicated, and i'm not sure how it'd be done without a service manual to look at.

The power windows get power from the power window relay. There is constant 12V on one side of the relay, but the relay only closes when the ignition is on and 12V is applied via the gauge fuse. The wiring connecting the gauge fuse to the power window relay coil is internal to the underdash fuse block. Theoretically possible to remove the fuse block and rewire the relay coil to close on some ACC 12V source, but I wouldn't do that unless something else was terribly wrong, that wouldbe a large amount of work. You could use some wires to extend the PW relay off the fuse block like in that retained accessory thread, and then run the 12V side of the relay coil to some ACC 12V source, like the CIG fuse.Te 12V outlet under the climate controls gets its power from the CIG fuse, which also powers the radio. There was a thread where someone tried rewiring the power outlet, but I can't remember how it turned out.Since you have an 05, you might look for the thread that showws how to add the 12V outlet to thecenter console between the seats, the outlet that Pontiac stopped putting in Vibes beginning with the 05s. There is also a thread that shows how to make thst outle be on all the time.
