Where to Mount Tweeters?

Hello. I just purchased a 2003 Vibe. I am very happy with it, with the exception of the stock soundsystem. I already installed a nice Eclipse head unit and would like to begin replacing speakers.I was wondering if there are any companies out there which make replacement bezels for the points in the door which cover the rearview mirror mounts. My Olds Alero had the tweeters mounted there and I thought it was ideal. I would prefer a set of bezels which direct the tweeters towards the driver rather than just letting them point outwards or swiveling the tweeters on their mounts. Also, where is the best place to mount a 1 foot by 1.5 foot amplifier? I have a small box I'd like to place in the car, too.Any assistance would be appreciated!

Try sending a private message to ragingfish. He may still have the JL's that were custom-fit to the front doors of the Vibe, complete with those 'sail panels' as we call them.

I mounted my tweeters on the door panels behind the manual locks/door openers. The flush mount tweeter buckets appeared prior to installation to not fit flush, but once installed and tightened down they are perfectly flush. I held the tweeters all over the place after installing the rest of my new speakers to determine where they would sound best. They sounded by far teh best at this location.Other places I thought of mounting were on the side view mirror interior cover (not enough clearance in covers without moon and tunes tweeters) and the top of the A-pillar near the roof.

I mounted my front tweeters in the stock sail panels (non-M&T version). Clearance was tight, but they fit. The speakers are Polk db6500 front and rear. The rear tweeters are just ahead of the door handle. My amp measures 11" wide, 16 1/2" long by 2 1/2" tall. It fit nicely under the passenger seat.

That's a nice job, there. I hadn't realized that Polk made car audio equipment. My in-wall and in-ceiling home theater speakers are Polk, so I think I am sold. What are the diameters of those tweeters? Will they fit in the sail panels from the moons and tunes package? I'm thinking I'll drop the $30 and pick those up from gm parts direct. Also, as far as mounting an amp under the seat is concerned, I wouldn't have a problem with it, save slushy michigan winters and the fear that the amp would get wet. Is that really the best spot to mount an amp in this car?
