Hi. I hope this is the correct forum for this. I just bought a new Vibe. My last two cars have had hail damage.Does anyone know of a car cover that would be portable enough to store in the back and throw over the car if a hail storm is coming up? I have a garage at home, but unfortunatly not at work and that's where I've gotten that damage - that or driving around.I was hoping to find something that would offer some protection, even if not maybe for the largest hail.Meg

Welcome to the site Meg! I have never seen such a thing BUT there are some thick covers made out there. You would want an outdoor/indoor cover. Those types are thicker then just a plain indoor cover. Such as a 4 layer or flannel-lined should work. Even one not made for the Vibe but another car would help. I have seen the above for Corvettes and they would even work for you. A $120-150 car cover is certainly better then dented panels! Plus you will have it for years!I have seen hail damage and boy it sucks! I used to details cars in college and did not see it often but when I did, it looked like someone threw golf balls at the metal!

That would have to be some awfully thick padding for it to protect against hail. Granted it wont protect it against large hail but its not often you see hail larger than golfballs.Do you own your own home or rent an appartment? If you rent an appartment they should offer garages or covered parking. If you own a home and dont own a garage I would seriously look at either getting one built or purchasing a car parking cover shed like dealy(cant remeber what they are called)

why not place like pillows or cushions or something between the car and the cover?

Get a regular car cover then a couple of the XL moving blankets. You can get the 8'x6' moving blankets from harbor freight for like $12. When you think a storm is coming around, throw the blankets over the car then strap the car cover over the top. If you really wanna get hardcore, have the blankets sewn to the car cover.

i would put a blanket then some foam boards or cardboard on the roof and hood then the cover! that way maximum protection is achieved!!!

These guys make them for the Toyota Matrix so it should work on the Vibe. They offer many different thicknesses and colors. Kinda spendy, but would cost less than most insurance deductibles.http://www.pickupspecialties.c...s.htm
