Pics of all colors monotone and not are posted below. I have said this before and it's only my opinion but the plastic cladding looks very cheap and doesn't go with the vehicle. It makes GM look like they cut conners to save money and didn't put any time or effort into designing and making a vehicle.I have heard numerous times from other people after seeing a Vibe for the first time it looks like crap. If Pontiac started advertising the monotone paint Vibe I think they would steal alot of sales from Toyota. SatelliteAbyssShadowFrostyLavaEnvyNeptuneSalsaNow which one looks better honestly? Not what you own!I borrowed your pic QWIKGTA Thanks.

Yes, that's the dealer near me. They always seem to have the same 3 or 4 Vibe's on the lot. They are VERY BASE models.. MSRP at about $16,900 I think.... only option added wasAuto Transmission. The other lot near me has about 5 or so Vibe's...but when I went to look at them, they all had SOLD stickers on the dash!

I agree; from what I've read here, it seems like the Canadians are getting unfairly shafted. You guys should take a trip on down to Orlando, FL and go see McNamara Pontiac -- last time I looked, they had like 31 Vibes in stock. Great service manager there, too.

It's not more popular it's just what more people have. The poll wasn't asking what you have, it's asking what you think LOOKS BETTER. The mono tone hands down looks better than the Cheap plastic clading.

Your right more people have it but, the poll is asking what looks better not what you have purchased. How many owners just settled for the plastic cladding because it was on the lot and didn't want to wait for a monotone Vibe to be delivered? Also how many people actually knew about the option when buying a Vibe?Pontiac isn't advertising this option, and dealers aren't either. Half of whom don't even know about the option.Just because more people have it doesn't all ways mean it's more popular. Hope that makes more sense.

I think that the mono tone makes the Vibe look like a station wagon. The two-tone makes it seem more like a mini SUV. Mono tone is more family car like and the two tone is sporty.

Plus the grey just doesn't look right with some colors. Why would anyone want a two color car?

I have and think the monotone looks better. The two tone reminds me of when my son builds cars out of Lego's and he don't have enough of thesame color to have the body match the chasis.

The scariest thing is, the Pacer was probably 2nd best looking car in AMC's lineup which also included the Gremlin, Hornet and Matador. What was AMC designers smoking in the 70's. The Javelin was the best looking but even that was a little strange. What's really funny is how AMC actually designed the Pacer with 2 different sized side doors. How stupid is that?

I have a black monotone AWD vibe and it looks a ton better than a Black vibe with the cladding, at least that's my opinion.

Well, it looks like the monotone vs. two-tone issue has been settled at our house. Today as we were walking across a parking lot toward our Satellite two-tone GT (w/17 inchers), I remarked to the light of my life (OlDoodette), "You know, I might get the bottom painted to match the top." She wheeled around, and let me know in quite certain tones that she thought the darker cladding, "...gives it character." Actually she prefaced that with something like, "If you touch that Vibe's colors, I'll distribute you evenly and randomly over Riverside County." So it is a matter of individual taste. As for me, my taste runs to keeping her happy (after all, it's worked for 42 years now).

We have a two- tone Neptune VIBE and we LOVE it. We wanted the SUV look without being one of the quadrillion people that have a SUV and we do agree that some colors look cheapy with two- tone but we think our Neptune goes well two- tone, but like someone said earlier, we are all different and that's what's so nice about the VIBE we can all LOVE the inside of the car and be individuals on the outside... I know it's an old saying, but don't judge a book by it's cover, can't we all just get along, it's what's on the inside that counts, not the outside... okay enough of my ramblings...

I prefer and just ordered a Monotone Lava Vibe. I think the Monotone looks more sporty and the Tootone looks more like a van (Montana). The 2tone is more practical of course, as bumps and scratches can be easily fixed. Monotones are very rare here in Canada, so having one is a little more unique I guess. Actually, Vibes of any stripe are still pretty rare here in Canada. GM makes more money selling them in the good ol' USofA. It's the price we must pay for our goofy village idiot prime minister. We call it the 'Chretien Dollar'. One C$ = $1.58.

i'm satisfied with the two tone for two reasons.One. It's gonna help out a lot in the winter time with all the road salt we are going to get.Two the second most popular new car here in Detroit is not a car it's the Chevy Avalanche in which all of them are two tone A lot of "ballers" have all kinds of different interior and exterior mods on them so my car fits right inTWO TONE FOR ME!!!!

I prefer the two tone. The plastic bumpers are more efficient for almost anything that may touch it. I explain:On the car I have presently, I noticed some scratches on the painted bumpers that I have done over the past 5½ years. It doesn't look very good.On the previous car I had, there was plastic gray bumpers. It was nice for this scratches because they don't actually appears on this surface. It's one raison because I chose the two tone. I prefer the SUV look of the two tone...

At first I preferred the monotone. I still like it... but I saw a two tone Lava GT today in the lot and it looked good. Like everyone else said... more sport-ute. I think the 17" wheels actually look better with the two tone... the grey cladding offsets those huge grey/aluminum wheels better. I also like the Voltz wheels better than the 17" Vibes.

I just traded in a 2000 Jimmy SLS, so the SUV look of my grey cladding doesn't bother me at all (not to mention the practicality).

Unless I missed it, no one in this whole thread pointed out that the 2-tone is really a 3-tone. There is a considerable amount of black trim (mirrors, door handles, roof rack, etc) so adding gray makes 3. If the trim were black I would have gotten the base salsa, but gray trim drove me to monotone. There are a few colors where 3-tone looks good (white and sattelite) but otherwise I vote monotone.

I like the monotone it is a classy look and also it doesn't look like a knock off subaru then. There are 4 vibes in my town. Two driving around mine, salsa, and a satellite. Another 2 are on a dealer's lot and have been there for a really long time. People ask me initally if the Vibe is some new type of subaru and then they see the pontiac emblem and are like what the hell is that and when did they start making that car?

quote:I like the monotone it is a classy look and also it doesn't look like a knock off subaru then. I prefer the two tone look because it is different. Only the Suburu is like the two-tone Vibe. There are other 'knockoff' vehicles that are monotone (Mazda Protege5, Suzuki Aerio, Nissan Murano, and of course the Toyota Matrix)In the end, it all boils down to preference.

Don't forget about the Mitsubishi Outlander. When I first saw the commercial, I thought it was a new Vibe commercial . The front end looks a little like the Vibe. The car itself looks more wagon like than the Vibe, though, and to keep this post on Topic I have a GT Abyss 2-tone.

I think all you two-tone lovers are just in denial. You know the monotone looks better, but you're stuck with the two-tone so you might as well like it. Am I right? I think maybe yes. (I hope you can all sense the sarcasm, just joking)

LOL monotone makes the Vibe look like a sleek stylish sports machine it is. The cheap grey plastic cladding makes the Vibe look, well most who see the Vibe for the first time seem to hate the two tone look but love the monotone. This is only my opinion but if someone gave me a two tone Vibe I'd trade it in on a monotone!

I like the monotone in the brighter colors (lava, salsa, neptune, frosty), I prefer the two tone on the darker colors, (abyss, shadow). I think satellite looks pretty good in either mono or two tone. And Envy.... Well, I think that would look better if it were entirely covered by the plastic cladding... But that is just me. I may be somewhat biased, since my vibe is an Abyss two tone.-- JimThere is an Envy Vibe in a lot here where I work... I hope I don't turn up dead in a ditch with flecks of green automotive paint scattered around the scene.
