I ran over a couple of nails the other day with my '94 Vibe. Took it into the dealer who patched it for $11.Got it home and it was half-flat again.Took it back today, and it seems one of the nails nicked the sidewall, which, they tell me, cannot be fixed. Came home with the spare still on.It's a Base Vibe with 35,000 miles, original Goodyear RS-A tires.Now, I'm just finishing grad school, so money is an issue, but so is time. Should I try to find a similarly-worn used tire? Replace all four with lesser tires to get me through? Spend the money and get decent tires?

RS-A's should be farily easy to come by, if you look at used tire places. GM uses them on lots of cars.But if you've got AWD then id be best if you got 4 new tires. You might want to check out tirerack. See whats on sale.

If money is tight, I'd get two new tires. Shouldn't be a problem if they are both on the front or both on the rear and I doubt that having different brands of the same size tires on front and back will be any problem. Places like Sam's Club etc. provide a mounting/balancing/road hazard package for about $10 a tire. If you are really strapped, Pep Boys has some good prices on their house brands.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, a local Discount Tire matched a used RS-A, charged $25 + $11 labor. (I did have to call a few places to find one though.)- GenVibe never lets me down. -
