What's the fastest you have ever gone in a VIBE?

Broke 100 on a freeway once, and to be honest it felt like I was going 70 mph or so. Besides the fact that the car was a bit wobbely, it really didn't feal all that fast. It was pretty loud though with all of the wind breezing by.

At least 110 here. I did that with my S/C on. I think I may have gone faster before that, but not sure so I stuck with that!

I was leaving a tailgator in my dust this morning when traffic opened up for me... I was past 110 before I noticed. (not smart, nor recommended...)

I don't think I've ever gone past 90. I did that on a road trip. Got to watch out and stay within 10 mph of speed limit around here since you never know where they will be hiddin waiting to give you a ticket.

Someone else has to make a new category, I wasn't sure how fast the vibe could go, my bro was telling me he didn't think it could break 100mph.

Fastest I've gone is 83 mph, and engine is turning ~3100rpm on an auto. What is rpm on a manual at that speed?Any difference in top speed on a base with no mods between a 5 sp and auto?

I had mine up to ~95 twice I think.

Speed Limiter is at 118, isn't it?With a 5 speed, it's pretty easy to hit it in 3rd...

i have the 5sp base and it is turning 2900 rpm at 80 i will check 90mph tonight on way home. The only problem I have with the vibe at high speed is you have to keep all windows up or both front windows down. If you lower just the drivers window there is to much air turbulance and the car wont stay in its lane. On the way to and from work i stay between 80 and 90 no problems with the car but gas stays around 27mpg running those speeds.

passing lane once in the alaska country side with my 5spd base Vibe with 3 others in the car... roughly 105mph. It did not feel like I was going that fast at all. Smooth as glassBut I have gone 130 in the Legacy GT, very smooth at that speed to.

yea my vibe feels great at 115mph. STB and cai are the only mods for performance right now.

I'm still young and dumb. Both my Matrix and Corolla top out just short of 140mph. I'm thinking of cutting the speed governor just to see what it's possible of doing.

125mph, then the lights start to flicker on the a/f guage and tach. The engine goes into convulsions. And the Scion TC that you had 5 lengths on goes flying by. I never go faster then 95. Normally don't have any need to. But how fast I get there is where the fun is at.

The GT is governed at 138 mph. I'm surprised that the base is so much lower than that.

Hey thanks for checking this out for me. I definetly don't want you to get in trouble doing this. But it looks like the 5 sp and auto are pretty much turning the same rpms at >70mph.

I constantly leave late so I can arrive early. I can keep it just off the limiter for 6-9 miles at a time between towns, and it rolls rock solid.

03 vibe GT fastest was 126 mph. i think i've gotten it on video....in the 05 LGT, anywhere from 136-140 ish or more. wasn't looking down at the speedo since i was making sure i was on the road. that was in the now "safety corridor" last year on our subie Girdwood/Portage cruise.

Found an open stretch of road today. 70 MPH, the auto is turning 2800, 75 MPH it's going 3k, 80 MPH it's going 3200 and 100 MPH it's going 4k (or 6000 in 3rd gear). Notice the pattern? In 4th gear, every 5 MPH adds 200 RPMs. I'm sure my mileage for this tank will be awful.

My wifes Vibe (the base, auto, fwd) is electronically limited to 115mph. Its pretty impressive considering the small engine and gas mileage, but I was disappointed when I hit the governer because I know it can go faster than that.

I haven't had the vibe up past 80 yet. The WRX would see cruise speeds at 100 and the TA see's mid 120's at the end of the 1/4. I have a feeling I wouldn't be confident in the Vibe at those speeds. It start feeling like it is going to lift and that freaks me out a bit.

the vibe is fine at speeds of 100 to 120 mph. i used to drive about 100 mph most of the way on my Anchorage to Fairbanks commute (353 miles one way) 2-3 times a month. after you get up to the 120's though, it kinda shook... so that made me a little unnerved. i only wish my LGT would see 120 at the end of 1/4 mile! LOL. with my AT, i'd love to break that 100 mph trap speed!

never really pushed the Vibe... Maybe 110?But my other cars have seen much much higher.I believe one has hit 145, the other 160 and my bike about 150..

That would put it at 6200 RPMs. If it could go that fast, it wouldn't be good to run it that way for long. As it is, at the 100 MPH I got it up to it felt very floaty and there was little wind. By floaty, I don't mean that it was hard to control, it's just that the variable steering didn't stiffen up any, so little inputs made big changes on the road. Plus, it takes so dang long to get up to 100 MPH, even with the pedal floored.

My poor little Vibe starts to cry at about 90, so I rarely push it (that and it's only stock... so that is pushing it). I once had it at about 108.But since every one else throws out thier fastest in ANY car. I had a 99 Taurus SHO, and it's gov. would kick in at 150. That was fun, not bad for a sleeper car.

What happens at 90? Mine was smooth, if floaty, at 115.
