Cell Phone Charging Issue

Has anyone had problems with charging cell phones? It seems the data port in the dash just doesn't have enough juice to charge my cell phone, even when it is not in use. I've tried various chargers, just to make sure that wasn't the problem. Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

Any help with this issue would be much appreciated. The data port? The only two connections I have on my dash that would be helpful in charging my cellphone would be the 12v DC connection (lighter) - and that can pump out up to 10amps... which is about twenty times the energy needed to charge my Treo's 1800mah battery. The AC connection (house 110v outlet, with the on/off switch) can handle up to 100 watts of power, again about 20 times the amount of energy needed for my cell phone's ac adapter.I would guess it's not your vibe - 12v chargers are very fragile - and the good ones have surge protection and charging circuits to keep your phone's battery from overcharging or overvolting. The electrical system in an automobile is murder on electronics. I've gone through a few motorola chargers in my day- but thankfully never a phone.

Mine works great. In fact, it charges my phone faster that my home charger.

LOL. Data port is a non-smokers way of referring the cigarette lighter. LOL. Thanks for all the input everyone, I guess I just have a crappy phone.

I would agree... I would try another adapter and see what happens with that. I charge my phone on mine and I have no issues.

Yeah dude, it's not your phone. If the charger is a cell brand - go take it to the biggest store and complain it doesn't work. They'll most likely swap it out with new one off the shelf and toss it.The kiosks and small stores will just make you buy a new one.Now if you got a cheap aftermarket charger... well, you're on your own.Drop me a line if it's a motorola... I got a couple laying around.
