Hello GenVibe. I am brand new to this site and I could use some help deciding on a new muffler. I am not doing a cat-back system, just a muffler and a tip. I've been looking at Borla, Magnaflow, and Flowmaster. I am not that worried about performance gains, just a nice exhaust note. I would really appreciate all the input I can get.

Considering the cost of many axle back exhausts I would still choose Magnaflow catback. It can be found for less than other manufacturers' axle backs. If it performs good it will sound good.

For just a muffler, to me the Borla, Flowmaster 50 series or even Dynomax Super Turbo will give a better note than the Magnaflow.To me the magnaflow seems too muffled(if that is even a word).

i dont like the way the magnaflow sounds i would get the Borla if you want an awesome sounding one

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll end up going with a borla muffler and a 4 inch tip of some sort. I'll be sure to let you guys know how it works out.

i made my mine with a muffler from a crx and a 4 inch tip took off the cat it sounds good the muffler is a foucs some ebay thing but it still sounds good

Well, I ended up going with a borla muffler and a nice 4 inch rolled tip. I was surprised when I felt a noticeable power increase. What also surprised me was how quiet it is. It is an older muffler because it was all he had in stock(I'm impatient), but it's still a straight through design. I've been tossing around the idea of having my resonator removed, but at the same time I don't want to ruin the nice purr my car now has. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?Don't do it, the purr will be louder, but you will get the ricer tin-can sound at higher rpm's. Take it from someone who did it!

Thanks for the advice. I think I will leave my resonator on. I also just noticed that the new exhaust seems to take a while to warm up. When I first start my car, it is not much different than stock. But after I've driven a mile or two, it gets much louder and deeper.

Do you think that using an aftermarket resonator would make it any louder? I can't think of any other ways to make it louder without messing with the resonator.

just have a shop take it off it will make it sound a lot better if you are looking for very loud take off the cat and put on a test pipe
