So what seems to be a continually popular subject since the Gt came out is the life of the clutch. My clutch is maybe starting to have signs of dieing. So I was wondering how much has this been costing everyone and under what conditions are the dealers covering the job. Thanks Train Man

if your under warranty you could try to have them cover it, or if you want a sport/performance clutch go buy one and have that installed by yourself/friends or a shop (the dealer will cost too much most likely)

Gripforce//Exedy Stage 1 is much less, something around $150-$200. Check eBay. EDIT: Here's their better than OEM (Stage 1) for $119+s/h:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVWStage 2 for $139:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1Labor will run you $400-$600, depending on the shop. It's a long job.PS: The SEARCH button is your friend . There's a TON of "GT Clutch" Threads around here, including the sticky at the top of this forum. I'm sure there's plenty of info in there for you. Good luck.

Already post a time or two about this.. but i have a problem with my GT... Or is it a problem? i'm close to be unable to shift after hitting lift.. Lets' say at 7000rpm... I thought that a change of clutch would help but maybe it's the transmission? i should change or both?Clutch seemed to be a good avenue for me since my factory clutch will die anyway so wasnt a bad move to upgrade to a better clutch but now i'm not sure it's the clutch that is in problem...Pontiac dealer told me.. that it was normal since it's not a car for powershift!

What exactly does it do when it doesn't let you shift? grind? stick?

Grind would be a good description... In brief, lets say lower than 6000 rpm it pass without problem. higher than that i have to "force" it a bit.. and usually respond with a grinding complain...

I have similar systems every now and again. And when it does get difficult to shift, the shift itself is usually quite jerky. I just always assumed that I needed both an aftermarket clutch like u said, but also a short shifter. But I really don't know how much those would help.

I suggest you take it to your Pontiac dealer shop ASAP.
