Front footwell glued / caulked onto the car?

While removing the carpeting from the front passenger footwell, I noticed layers and layers of goop. It looks like caulk, or is it some kind of "liquid nails" for attaching body panels together? My driver's side footwell has about the same amount of goop. Is everybody's Vibe like this, or is this evidence of a shoddy body repair / assembly?

its sealer and most cars and trucks have it all along seams where body panels meet, our plant uses alot of it, its cheap and seals seams great. when I did water test I saw it spead all over the place just like that. so no your vibe is not glued together the body panels are spot welded together and sealed to prevent water and air leaks.a little off topic but; everyone should take a tour of an assembly plant to see just how vehicles are assembled you would be amazed.
