I'm at 17,000 miles on my 2005 AWD and have had my tires rotated about 4 times yet I get a letter from my dealership yesterday about my last service @ 15,000 miles. They checked by tires and brakes. The brakes were still in good shape, however, they said my tires would need to be monitored because there was only ___ mm of tread left. I don't have the exact number but I'm just a little concerned that these tires didn't last very long. Actually, I have mixed feelings. I'm pissed that they didn't last long, but I'm happy because I never liked these tires and have wanted to get some Goodyear Assurance Tripletreads since almost day #1. In my previous care (1999 Saturn SL2) when I switched from OEM firestones to Micelin X-One it was like night and day. The ride was so much better and so much quieter as well as the handling improvement. Questions: should they be that worn already? should I buy the Tripletreads now or wait until these are completely shot even though I despise the RSA's?Thanks for any input,Mike

Those are the same OEM tires I had on my Vibe, and I have to say they weren't very good. They were making an awful noise and there was obviously something wrong internally in one of them. And I was getting the same messages about the tires needing to be monitored from about 20K on. I just replaced them about a month ago, at 32,000 miles, with Kumho Solus KH16s, and these are MUCH better tires...I'm very pleased.

I have the Tripletreds on my '05 FWD and absolutely love them. Best money you can spend. Let me know how you like them once you get a set.

You got the Kumho's?? Awesome! I love selling that tire....as much as I liked the BS G007 on my AWD Vibe, I drove the Princess Vibe the other day (I put the Solus's on it) and was amazed how well it rode!

I couldn't really afford something expensive, so I think this was a good "budget" option, especially since the tires for this car are so expensive anyway. They get very high ratings on Tire Rack.

Must be a softer compound tire, thus softer and wear faster but have a better grip since they get soft and sticky. Normal street tires should last 50-60,000 miles with proper rotations and inflation. Unless you get really hard tires,those can last even longer. Despite all the people on the site that have complained about their Continentals, I have 37,000 on mine and they look just fine... I rotate them every 5,000 and are aired up to 33 PSI. Then again the car is not driven like a race car too!

my RS/A's were getting noticeably crappy at 17,000 miles. They had been mediocre in snow and on wet pavement all along and only fair on dry pavement.I replaced them with GY Assurance Tripletread's and couldn't be happier. I've had excellent grip in all conditions since. They were amazing on 'snow on ice' last wintersylvain

I decided to take the plunge this morning and got a set of TripleTreads on the Vibe. It was a bit more than I really wanted to spend but it was worth it after riding on them for 10 miles or so. The ride is much smoother, quieter, and more responsive. I would have paid more money when I bought the car to have these as the OEM tires. Anyway, I'm now good for 80,000 miles. I'm hoping for some rain to try these out and looking forward to winter if only to see how they handle. Thanks for everybody's advice.By the way, DON'T go to Sears for tires if only because of the cost. They quoted me almost $700 for the tires. I couldn't belive it. Plus he wasn't very cordial or helpful. It was like I was bothering him. Ended up at Belle Tire and they were a couple bucks more than Sam's Club but they were in stock and did them right away where Sam's would have had to order them and it would take about 4 days. Today was my day off so it worked out well. Secondary note: 2 and 4 year old girls do not care a whole lot for hanging around tire stores. I'm sure they were happy to get us out the door.Mike

i have 40k miles and still have the eagles on, 2 of them are sort of low on tread but the other 2 (now on the front) have decent tread.

Glad you took the plunge for the TripleTreds. I drove them theough a Northeast Ohio winter last year and was very happy.

I put Falken ZE-512's on mine and they are one sweet set.....Consumer Reports gave them the best rating.
