Hello Everyone,I purchased a 2005 Silver Vibe GT (Certified GM Used) yesterdayfor what I believe is a pretty good price. I am curious to know whatyou all think? I think I got a good deal at $15,750 out the door. Thecar came with the Monsoon audio pkg & sunroof. From what the dealer& carfax tells me, it was a GM Company car for some time, and nevertitled. I still can't believe the car had only 3080 miles on the ODO& the new car smell! The car is slated to be the daily driver in ourhome, so it's going to be well used. Do you think I need to worryabout the break-in period with this car? As with any big purchase,I'm going through the usual mood swings between buyers remorseand elation at the fact that we have a new car in the family! I amsure we made the right decision with this car, but a few words of encouragement from you guys would really help me right now! Ithank you in advance for welcoming me to the genvibe community,Regards,Igo2Xs

Welcome to GenVibe!Sounds like a very good price to me. I think you're well past the break-in period, so you should be ready to hit lift! Always a good idea to use the Search feature to get more info on your GT. Lots of great advice and information can be found here. And don't forget to post pics!

It sounds like you got a good deal. I too have silver, it is a nice color since it never looks dirty from afar.

welcome aboard. like the ZubenElGenubi said, you're well past the break in period. it may feel like it takes a while to get up there, but freeway entrance ramps are my favorite place to rev it up over 6700rpm and enjoy those extra ponies.

Well, I've been a Vibe owner for 10 days and already put on over 900 miles. I've very happy with the purchase. The car drives and handles well and for its size the fuel eceonomy is great. Sometimes I'd like a little more HP, but I'll forego that for better fuel economy. With gas at $3+/gal. it's time to be practical. I find myself looking at other vehicles and thinking how much gas they're burning vs. what I'm burning. So what if they get to the next traffic light ahead of me, I'm doing better at the pump and it's a sharp looking vehicle too. No regrets here.

that's about the lowest price i've seen for an 05 GT. this past february, i got extremely lucky on my 05 GT. $16,700 with thirty-two miles on it. it was sittin on the lot for a year, so they dropped the price from $24,700 to my price so they could get it off their lot. like everyone's said, you're past the break-in period, so go ahead n have fun. i noticed you said it's gonna be the daily driver in your family, and just wanted to let you know that if you have any kids learning to drive, the gt isn't the best car to learn on, unless you have ghandi-like patience lolwelcome to the site, and in case you haven't heard it enough: we love pics

Wow! Thank you everyone for all your kind words of encouragement. My wife and I had a Dr's appt in north Scottsdale yesterday afternoon. It was a 45 mile one-way trip up to his office. Normally I'm no fan ofthe Dr's, but believe me I had a big smile as I stepped into his officeafter having such a fun drive up there. My wife and I don't have kidsyet, so this car is going to be used around town and to haul stuff fromHome Depot for all the honey-do projects that I'm getting signed up todo. As requested, here are some photos of the car. It's mono-tonesilver. I didn't even know you could get a dual color vibe! I tookeveryone's advice and just started to drive the car hard. I still can'tbelieve the 8k readline! I think this is going to be the start of a verylong love affair with this wonderful little machine. Thanks again toeveryone who responded to my post. I really appreciate you makingme feel welcome at genvibe,Take care,Igo2Xs

Welcome.Yeah kinda like sayin "no" to crack when someone bends over, same concept Wheel gap is looked at in the same way...just kidding.Besides, I dunno how things are done down there in AZ but if you've got any winding roads, the springs will make that 90 mile drive seem like a LeMann's race maybe a little extreme but you get the idea.

Hello Everyone,A quick update... Got the windows tinted day before yesterday,so at least I have my 1st mod under my belt. In AZ, you can'tlive without window tint, so that was necessary. The car camewith XM radio, so I activated that yesterday. I am really enjoyingthe comercial free music. The only other audio mod I am lookingto do is Ipod integration. I am sure there must be tons of info onthe site, I just need to search for it. Searching the forum I noticed a few folks stating they felt a little"turbo boost" like push when reaching about 6k on the tach. Ihonestly have not felt this yet. Do you think the engine needsa few more miles on it before it reaches peak performance? I am putting 92 octane in the tank so that is covered. I just loveshifting through the gears in this car. It makes running aroundtown that much more fun. I promise to post more updates asthings progress and will post upated pics shortly. Thanks againto you all for making me feel so welcome!Igo2Xs

Not sure what triggers it as it doesnt happen at any set RPM or speed...it just seems to kick in at random high accelerations that I have noticed. Though when the VVT does kick in its a wonderfull feeling

On a 2003 GT, lift kicks in at exactly 6000 RPM -- but only if the engine is fully warmed up.
