that's right folks, i traded the vibe in on an '04 malibu maxx this past saturday. it was hard to say goodbye, but the ol' vibe was starting to make a loud hum from the rear, which i didn't even want to find out what it was.i didn't do too bad on the maxx. i only put down $914 and my payments are only $337, $20 cheaper than my vibe. it has 27k miles on it. the sucker is loaded too! power everything including pedals, moonroof, 6 speaker CD stereo, traction control, DVD player, leather, auto dimming mirror, climate control, etc. (who knows what else, i haven't figured everything out yet)the sucker has some oomph too! i will have to look up the specs for exact numbers, but my cousin checked it out and the HP was 200 and the TQ was 220 something, which explains why my wheels stunk really bad on saturday when i turned off the traction control.fear not though, i will stick around. i also promise not to turn this into a maxx forum, bragging about my car every time something cool is said about a vibe. one last note though, i will admit, i don't stare out the window at this one like i did the vibe, it's just not the looker like i had.

(i'm thinking the 3.5 should sound pretty good) it's already tinted pretty dark on all the back windows, so i just need to add the eyebrow on the windshield. i will also be getting vent visors someday and having my 12s installed in the back.so far, i am very impressed with this car.

Shocked! Shocked, I say!Congratulations on your new(er) car; sounds like you got a good deal. So, how'd this all happen? You go on a bender and wake up in a Chevy dealership?

WHAT!!! youve got to be kiddin! No way!! youd never betray the vibe . well we had a rental malibu when all 3 of our cars we in the shop, moms van rearended, dads truck transmission, my vibe engine. it was ok but very uncomfortable than the vibe. did have some get up. very good stock sound system (4 speaker) and wasnt sure what the +/- on the auto stick??but over all it wasnt that bad of a car but we still wish we had that Sonata with the V6 and 7 speaker setup :drooling:but Congrats Drunken on the Maxx like MIVibe said:Quote, originally posted by MiVibe-ToolGuy »Look at the Maxx SS for some parts or ideas too!

i think you have to go through the stereo, if i remeber but i dont remeber the button though.

the plus and minus on the stick is for when you drop it to "L" you can upshift or downshift using those.mine has the 6 speaker stereo, similar to the vibe's, and it sounds great, all i need to do is add my 12's.

dang drunken this was sorta sudden. For sure post up some pics, and yea that new 3500 v6 engine from GM throws down some nice torq. so you going to miss the AWD?

Re: (northvibe)

the biggest thing of AWD i will miss is the donuts. i have traction control, which is supposedly almost as good.the torque is great, this is the most powerful car i've ever had. with traction control off, i got it to roast them through second and was still going when i let off!the pics will come eventually, i just have to have a way to get them here. (my only internet is at work)i must admit though, the vibe was probably the "coolest" car i will ever have owned and it will be missed.

Quote, originally posted by drunkenvibe »oh yeah, i don't have an owners manual for this thingy and i can't figure out how to set the trip meter, anyone have some insight? DIC Operation and DisplaysThe DIC comes on when the ignition is ON. If your vehicle has the uplevel audio system, the time and outside temperature will be shown on the first line of the display and the DIC information will be on the second line of the display. The DIC has different modes which can be accessed by pressing the DIC buttons. The button functions are detailed in the following.Information Mode (INFO Button)Use the INFO button to scroll through the vehicle information mode displays in the following order:TRIP Odometer A TRIP Odometer B FUEL RANGE (Fuel Range Until Empty) ECON (Average Fuel Economy) AV SPEED (Average Vehicle Speed) OIL LIFE (Oil Life Monitor System) TRIP A or TRIP BPress the INFO button until TRIP A or TRIP B is displayed. This shows the current distance traveled since the last reset for each trip odometer in either miles or kilometers. Both odometers can be used at the same time. Each trip odometer can be reset to zero separately by pressing and holding the ENTER button for a few seconds while the desired trip odometer is displayed.FUEL RANGEPress the INFO button until FUEL RANGE appears, to display the remaining distance you can drive without refueling. It's based on fuel economy and the fuel remaining in the tank. The fuel economy data used to determine fuel range is an average of recent driving conditions. As your driving conditions change, this data is gradually updated. Fuel range cannot be reset.ECONPress the INFO button until ECON appears in the display. Average fuel economy is how many miles per gallon or liters per 100 kilometers your vehicle is getting based on current and past driving conditions.Press and hold the ENTER button while ECON is displayed to reset the average fuel economy. Average fuel economy will then be calculated starting from that point. If the average fuel economy is not reset, it will be continually updated each time you drive.AV SPEEDPress the INFO button until AV SPEED appears in the display. This is the vehicle's average speed in miles per hour or kilometers per hour.Press and hold the ENTER button while AV SPEED is displayed to reset the average vehicle speed.OIL LIFEPress the button until OIL LIFE appears in the display. The Oil Life Monitor system shows an estimate of the oil's remaining useful life. It will show 100% when the system is reset after an oil change. It will alert you to change your oil on a schedule consistent with your driving conditions.Always reset the engine oil life after an oil change.

i rented one about a year ago..i liked it.one of the funniest moments was during the 'menu' exploration when i switched from km/h to mph and back again...while driving! The spedometer needle goes crazy for a bit...then figures out where it is.congrats.

Never liked the Malibu's myself, at least in the looks dept. Can't really say anything about them otherwise. To me they just looked weird with that funky little hatch type thing on the back. Post pics though and let us see it!

Congrats, you've just pawned your troubles off on other people! What a great feeling. Mr. Negative here says your Vibe's rear end was about ready to fricken lock up. LOL! But seriously, nice choice of a replacement. The Malibu is a nice car. I didn't like them at first but after a while, that changed. And I even considered them before I dumped the Vibe, they are a great value used. Have some fun with that thing and keep us posted on how things develop.

why thank you colonel!yes, that is the main reason i dumped the vibe! if that was the rear dif, i just did an incredibly smart thing.

Like Damronjr stated, you will not hear more noise from a drop in filter... I have one in my Vibe. You heard noise from your CAI due to all the stock muffler/baffling and piping was removed when you installed the CAI. Interior noise reduction is one reason why all the plumbing is there in the first place. You will notice better throttle response and a few extra HP.

one of my biggest reasons was fear of the differential going out. like i said, there was a hum that was getting louder and louder.as far as the new sig, i will design one once i get a chance to get some pics on my mac here at work. the insurance lady took pictures of my car last night and i asked her to e-mail them to me, so i should have some digis soon.

i have another question for y'all: earlier, i mentioned getting dual exhaust. the way i am plannning would be to purchase a flowmaster with a single inlet and dual outlets. the current muffler is sideways mounted. how feasible is this?
