After 1 week of ownership.....

After 1 week of ownership and driving just over 800 miles I can say that I really enjoy driving the Vibe. It gives me a nice smooth ride and I'm averaging 30MPG with an auto transmission and the A/C on all the time (split between city & hwy driving w/ some stop & go traffic). MPG mileage estimates are 29/34 (city/highway mpg), so I'm right there.I find myself driving the Vibe differently than any other car I've owned. I guess it's due to trying to get as much fuel economy out of it as possible and that it only has 126 hp and 122 lb-ft of torque. But, that's quite alright. The Vibe is more than adequate and I'm very relaxed while driving it. 800 miles per week is not the norm for me. It's usually between 400-500 miles per week. This week was somewhat unusual as I took some jobs well out of my service area and worked all 7 days. The Vibe is not without some issues, but niether was any new car I've ever purchased. Sometimes the Vibe will not start on the first try when the engine is warm. It will sometimes require two tries before the engine starts. I'll bring it to the dealer shortly to have it checked out, along with some rattling I hear from under the hood and one of the rear seats not locking into place unless slammed. Then there's the placement of some of the controls, but that's just something I need to get used to. I also hear what sounds like crackling glass when I roll down the driver window. I hope it's not a precursor to the exploding window problem I've read about. All in all I feel this was a very good purchase and I hope to be a happy Vibe owner for at least the next 5 years.

the starting issue is call the hot soak... i think. and it happend to the DBW (drive by wire) cars. pretty much 05+ cars. and when you first start it... no prob. but once you drive it for a while the start issue comes into play. i just havent taken it in to get mine fixed. glad your enjoying the vibe

Hey crazytrain, just got mine on the 17th and almost at the 900 mile mark and loving mine as well......Only prob I'm having is trying to get used to driving a "car" again...I've been in a truck for the past 20 years, whether it was a Nissan or Dodge and this little fella is something special..Other than that I'm getting anywhere from 24.9 mpg city to 28.75 highway and can definitely deal with that, esp after my Dakota was getting an avg city of 15.2...congrats on ur purchase and hope we're both members here for years to come...Oh yea, I also just got my weathertech hood deflector ((truckstuffusa.com)) and it's GREAT !!!!!!! Just a little fyi for you and any others who might be interested (But gotta get pics with it on ASAP)!!! See ya, Marty !

Glad to hear you are enjoying the Vibe! It is just plain fun to drive. The engime rattel may be the Tensioner pulley. Mine rattles a bit also which I am going to get taken care of at my next service. As for the Driver window, I would get the checked ASAP also. If it is crackling now it will be only a matter of time before she blows. Be sure not to slam your driver door hard with the window down as some have had it break when they have done that after hearing a similar crackling sound that you are hearing. Good Luck. Let us know what the dealer tells you.

My one-month review is, in a word, Awesome. I'm getting 30-32 MPG city and got about 36 on the highway on a trip to St. Louis. I have an '06 and am not having the starting problem (but think about it every time I turn the key).I've done ArmorAll and wash it and am babying the thing, and am just enjoying the heck out of it. I think I am going to try that a/c mod....it keeps going over 100 here in Kansas City. Once it gets going, though, cooling is fine. DOWNSIDE: I left the drivers side floormat at a car wash because I'm some sort of deficient moron.
