Hey all, I just thought I'd say hi now that I registered. This is one great site, I already found answers to a few questions about my new Vibe. Which, by the way I bought yesterday. Yippee It's a mono salsa base 5sp, pwr pkg, 7 speaker Monsoon. Wish it had ABS, I would trade my red bumpers for it... Will post some pictures soon. I'm going to get my windows tinted, add the crossbars, air deflectors, the extra 12v outlet in the center console and probably a new stereo that plays mp3 cds and has a remote. I have short arms and can't reach the radio comfortably Oh, if somebody knows how to wire the stereo so that it's on even if the ignition isn't let me know. I'll post the question in the appropriate forum too. So that's about it, pretty basic, just the way I like it. I might put a few stickers here and there to make it fancier ) Well, that's all for now see ya'll later in the forum

welcome! where are the pics?? and no, you cannot hve the stereo on if the ignition is off. keep in mind the vibe is essentially toyota so that feature is not available like other GM models. if you REALLY wanted to have it on, then you could rewire the power to the battery or alternate battery. i don't recommend this as the vibe's OEM battery is crap and you'd kill it pretty easily.

Welcome to GenVibe! If you do decide to hardwire your stereo then I would highly recommend replacing the oem battery with a Optima Yellow Top deep cycle battery. It will allow you to use your stereo for very long extended periods of time without killing it.

If you were to wire the stereo with the ignition not being on the only way I know is to run a constant hot/12volt powered wire to your stereo. Then you would always have to turn the stereo off manually every time you exited the car...

Welcome to GenVibe!Generally, not a good idea to hardwire the HU to 12VDC, if only to prevent draining the battery. OTOH, if someone were to get creative (a challenge to jahntassa or GMJAP here), maybe there would be a way to use the seat switch that sets off the "fasten seatbelt" indicator as a way to activate power to the HU. That way, power would only be on when some is actually sitting in the driver's seat.

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Here is a picture of my Vibe. So pretty Justin, I'll see you around Reston, I'll wave if I see ya! About the radio, I do want to have it on at all times, I had that in my other cars and comes in handy when I just do stuff around the car like clean it, fix stuff, things like that... Actually now that I think about it my old car also had the power windows on after ignition went off until I opened the door. Anyone knows how to do that?
