I'm looking for a roof mounted bike rack that ideally would mount directly to the factory cross bars. I've read all the posts on bike racks, but didn't find what I was looking for. I've heard mention of a "factory" roof bike rack, but all I could find was the factory "utility bar" http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/ac...43033Anybody know where I could get such a thing? Also I talked to a guy at REI and he said that this rack should work.http://www.rei.com/product/479...G_TOCAny thoughts on this product?

I just ordered the "utility bar", but it's intended for the newer cars where Pontiac decided to scrimp and not supply cross bars.I carry my bikes inside behind the back seat, but the REI rack looks like a good solution for attaching to the factory crossbars. REI has an excellent return policy so I'd recommend giving them a try.

I use Thule's 450 Crossroads and load bars. They wrap around the factory rack side rails. I bought them originally for my girlfriend's Mazda Tribute but they also wrap around the roll cage of my Jeep and fit the Vibe. I would prefer the base to be wider though. When I bought my Vibe the Vibe in the showroom had some GM/Thule crossbars that had a much wider footprint, maybe they were the GM bars you posted the link to, but the pic at the GM site is too small to tell.
