People are all talk

I found the thread on here. About the "look at this instument cluster" and then I went to the original thread on MO.com. This guy that converts these for us and the trix guys is awesome. He knows what he's doing. ..... When he first put the pics on MO.com people where all like: "Man that's awesome, sign me up." Well people are all talk. He's had maybe, 3 or 4 people accually get this done. Us vibe guys have to help this Celica guy out. ...... So, what I'm saying is... Give this guy your business. It's worth it, and he won't let you down.~KevinP. S. This is site: http://www.ledmod.comHere is the pic again:

It is probably a fair price for what has to be done, but I would not expect many people are willing to pay $150 to have the color of their cluster changed.Which color option are you going for? Post some before/after pics of yours when you can

that $150 is all labor, the parts are way under $5 bucks for the led's. But all that soldering, I'd prolly charge about that too surface mount led's can be a pain in the (removed) the gauges look sweet, if i ever get a extra cluster maybe ill throw some new led's in it.I agree with joatmon, the mod is cool but for $150 just to change led's is sorta pricey.

Looks cool but like the others said, its not work the money unless you were planning to show your car. Then it may be worth it.

$150 sounds like a deal as far as I'm concerned. My friend and I charge about that to swap springs and sway bars in my garage... a cluster sounds complicated.

Thank you Mavrik. Exactly, very tedious and time consuming. I think it's a well deserved labor price.

While I like the way that blue gauge cluster looks, I can't say I'd want it bad enough to pay $150 for it, even if that is a fair labor cost. That said, were the people who said they wanted it aware of the price when they stated their interest? That may have been what turned them off. Just a thought.Regardless, though, I'm not sure it's anyone else's responsibility to give someone business just because others said they were interested and backed out. If people want it and are willing to pay the price, then great, but I know I'm not really compelled by the idea of making up for business lost by people who either feigned or lost interest.

I'd easilly pay $150 for an upgrade like that, it's pleasing to me the driver. I've seen much more money wasted on crap like ugly useless wings, extra subwoofers, installation for items a monkey could install.

Kari, I appreciate your brute honesty. You have a good point.BUT!!LUVROK,You are exactly right. I too have seen wings and things that are ugly and cost way more than a beautiful blue gauge conversion. Thank you both for your interest in this thread.~Kevin

I might pay to have this done. For 1 Blue is my favorite color and 2 the red on black is hard to read during the day sometimes, esp when the sun hits it.Though Im not sure if I need to get a new lense or not.

I would like to agree yet disagree with LUVROK.I must say it is a nice upgrade from the stock cluster, but to my intrests I doubt I would replace it because mine just does fine and I see no reason to upgrade it. I have wasted tons of money as you would put it in a system and all, but its because that has more of an intrest to me than a cluster. Everyone sees upgrades as something different, some do like the wings and that. It's kinda like the say, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

kevin, what color option are you going for, or have you already had it done? please post pics of your car with the mod when you get it done.I prefer the red theme the cars come with, the later red/white or even the earlier all red, so I am not interested, but that is consistent with my prior postings in other threads.I agree with Kari's point. Why should we feel obligated to give this stranger money because some other strangers on a different website didn't?It's a different product altogether, but people here should be feel more obligated to buy from http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=16180 than from some random "celica guy"

Gee, for some reason I don't understand why I'm not surprised at what went down over at that other place. I know the guy has to go through a lot to do these LED swaps. That surface mount crap is a pain to deal with as I found when in college for electronics... I really crashed and burned when trying to solder that surface mount stuff. This link has a cool pic of how small these things can be. I'd say that's a reasonably fair price for labor considering the effort involved and the number of LED's to be repalced...But I'm with the others, I don't understand why people here should feel obligated to run out to the car and yank their clusters out and send them to this guy just because of the folks at that other site. I'm sure something such as this has happened there before and on many other sites. It's just something that happens when you deal with people on the internets. It's a cool mod, so if someone wants to have it done, do it. If you want to leave the gauges as-is, leave them alone.

I got the cluster back today. I have attached some pics. To answer some questions: I went with blue, stock indicators, and stock green blinkers. Look at the pictures and tell me what you think. Peace.~KevinP. S. I am extremely happy with how they came out. I would definately do busness with this guy again.[IMG][/IMG]

Well actually I am. I'm going to send them to the same guy. He has'nt done them before on a vibe/matrix, but he does the conversion on the celica. He thought it would'nt be a problem.

Looks good! It's about damn time I see photographs of said modification without that logo crap all over the thing. Kudos to you for keeping the indicators the original colors. They won't blend in with the rest of the gauges now when something bad happens. I always figured if one of the red lights came on when I had my Vibe, it would have been mighty difficult to catch in a hurry, IMHO.For the switch: It can be DIY if you want. Check out GMJAP's results, pretty snazzy!

a engine start button would be cool!Hey here is a guide to install your own led's in a gauge cluster from a corolla, yea...these are not the tiny surface mount led's but they are surface mount ones..doesnt seem to hard just a lot of time.http://www.9thgencorolla.com/f...33261
