My dad got a call from his boss's secretary from their main office in Hutchison, MN and his boss went to eat a milk dud out of her desk...he hiccupped while eating it and it got lodged in his air pipe and he fell back and hit his head on the floor and stopped breathing. They called 911 and revived him and he got hostile with the paramedics then fell into a coma, has a fractured skull and is bleeding on the brain and hasn't woke up in 4 days...all over a peice of candy. Thats some freaky shizzle.

It was his dad's boss...I think. Still very freaky though...hope he's okay.

Dang, that's a wierd way to get sent to the hospital.

They said they did an MRI and he has blood at the top of the brain and they cannot operate to release the fluids because it is too dangerous. He's in ICU and now nobody is aloud in the room. Pretty scary, I'v been on the phone with his brother all morning doing what I can to help and trying to do his job from here over the telecom and net. They said he woke up once saturday really beligerant(sp?) and fightign with the nurses and they had to put him back intoa chemically induced coma and now he won't come back out of it.

They need to fly him to Chicago. Seriously.I had the exact same thing happen to me, except it was from ~10 ft in the air, and there were no Milk Duds involved.I had a compound skull fracture with severe bleeding inside on my brain. The pressure was so high it moved my brain over enough to kill me. They drilled holes in my skull to drain the blood and it worked.I'm fine now, but lost my sense of smell. I literally have extra holes in my head now, and an epoxy holding my skull together, but other than that I'm fine.Granted, mine was a matter of life and death (basically I was gonna die if they didn't try) but if he has any relatives willing to submit him to the surgery maybe the doctors will do it.Seriously, if you need names of doctors and/or hospitals, let me know. I'll be glad to refer them.

R.I.P. Kent McKimm I just got a call from his brother that he passed away this morning...I guess thats proof that the lord works in mysterious ways and when its your time...its your time..but over a peice of candy is still what baffels me..

wow, weird. i really don't know which way to go with this one...

Not that it probably had much to do with the outcome, but don't get stupid with people trying to help you.The whole thing is pretty freaky though.. It's a good reminder that your time can be up anytime, and not neccesarily in a way you expect.

That is just wild.A little piece caramel and chocolate brought about the events of this person's demise.When your exit time arrives, there's no way out.On a lighter note, I will never look at Milk Duds the same again (they are my absolute favorite bad-for-me junk food)

They may not be so bad, maybe there are hidden positive attributes in there somewhere... Anybody remember what Junior Mints did for that one person in Seinfeld that was getting operated on? Anyway, tangerine, any way you can post a link to the obituary? I've gotta see how this was worded, this was such an odd way to go! The poor guy! My thoughts to the family and friends although I do not know any of them.

I could try and get a copy of it if they have the newspaper online there like we do here. I'm in Missouri and he was in Hutchison, MN. Really taking a toll on alot of people, he was the brains of the company and a really good man. My dad got fired by a pompus (removed) because he didn't wanna pay higher insurance rates because I had cancer when I was 17 (and its gone now thanks to dr thomas moff) but the day my dad was fired he heard about it and within the hour had my dad a contract faxed to the house and offered him double what he was making before because he didn't want to see someone he'd done good business with over the phone get put through the ringer. I just wish I coulda had the chance to meet him in person before this happened.

I guess that's why you say your prayers each day. It sounds like he did good things before his death, though, so perhaps it was just his time. Still...
