Dept. of stupid questions....

I've been thinking of getting a full sized spare for my 05 Vibe. I've determined it will fit, but I'll have to get rid of the nice plastic insert, and replace it with a piece of plywood. I *hate* limited service spares. they're almost useless; on the road, leaving you at the mercy of an isolated service stationOn to the stupid question : are Vibe steel rims the same size as alloys? I have the 'standard' 16" alloys on my Vibe, and I want to get a wheel/tire that's the same diameter/profile/width at the tires on the car. Obviously, the local recycle yards would sell a steel rim much cheaper than an alloy, and also be much more likely to break up a set.TIA

i believe you just need to make sure the wheel diameter is correct. no different from buying steelies for winter time...

the standard 16" steel rim is the same as the 16" alloy rim. Most 16" rims are the same width but off the top of my head I do not remember what the steel rim is. But there isn't anything special about the steel rim so you can safely purchase a generic steel rim that is said to fit a Matrix or Vibe.

16" steelie is 16 x 6.5 with a 38 offset.
