If you cannot sign in to websites that uses encrypted connections for authentication (HTTPS rather than HTTP), then your firewall is most likely blocking these connections. You'll need to check the firewall section of the configuration of the McAfee suite, and see what is allowed and what is not. If there is an entry there for Internet Explorer (or whichever browser you are using), check and make sure that it can use both port 80 (http) and port 443 (https).

yup i see this a lot with mcafee and norton firewalls. if your able to turn off the firewall and restart the PC it might/should work. Just remember to turn on your windows xp firewall on that network connection or dial up connection. If it works then do like what lmhansen said and start tweaking the firewall to allow it to go to those sites.

Try checking the date and time on your computer. My CMOS battery (looks like a giant hearing aid battery) was dead and sometimes when I shut the computer off for a day or two it would lose the date and be 2009 or something. I couldn't log on to secure sites. It does weird things to computers when they don't know what year it is, kind of like people.

I'm not sure if you're using XP Home, or XP Media edition, but both will behave the same way. You're computer is having problems with spyware on it. This problem will usually occur after running a spyware cleanup program like Adaware or Spybot. Both of these program are terriffic and I endorse them, they are not to blame. Both Norton and McAfee are known for causing browsing problems, but the issues you have here is a result of damage that was done to internet explorer. You'll notice you can go to any website, except for those that are password protected. You'll also find that the windows update wesite won't work, either. If you're using a router, it's best to remove any and all firewall software from your computer. The firewall is handled by the router, which is your frontline connection to the internet. If you are connected with this PC being the only one connected directly to the internet, simply enable the windows firewall and remove McAfee entirely. For antivirus, I recommend Grisoft AVG free edition. You can download it here for free.
http://www.free.grisoft.com. It's certified for 100% detection, and will likely find viruses on your machine that McAfee doesn't catch (and for a price!). Now, on to fixing your current problem. On your machine, click START and RUN. At the prompt, enter each of these lines below. Click OK after each one. It will reregister the DLL's necessary for Internet Explorer to work properly. After you get IE working, install AVG and scan for viruses. (It's easiest to copy and paste them, like I did here)regsvr32 jscript.dllregsvr32 Softpub.dllregsvr32 Wintrust.dllregsvr32 Initpki.dllregsvr32 Dssenh.dllregsvr32 Rsaenh.dllregsvr32 Gpkcsp.dllregsvr32 Sccbase.dllregsvr32 Slbcsp.dllregsvr32 Mssip32.dllregsvr32 Cryptdlg.dllDon't neglect to uninstall McAfee, that computer will run faster without it.-Randy PetersonMouseworks Computer Service

I could not reply over the holiday because I could not get into genvibe.I tried the dll, port 80, 443, turning McAfee off, clearing the cookies, and it still does not work.Ok, I did get ebay to work by adding it to the allowed pop up block list. But genvibe still does not work. It said I'm log in. When I post, it said I need to be log in. When I try to log out, it said I need to be logged in to log out. Really......Here is another one that is related. The streamaudio is not working.
http://hawaiian105.com/When I click listen, the javascript pop up a window. It plays the commerical, and then it ends, and the window closes.I think all this is related to one thing that I can't figure out.P.S. I'm at work now so I can respond.

sounds like you need to completly uninstall mcafee and run AVG free like stated above, so you will still be protected. Mcafee is probably blocking it, again ive seen it over and over with mcafee and norton security suite.
