Why is Lava (bright red) an unpopular exterior color?

I am considering purchase of a 2006 Vibe and the one I am dealing for is Lava (bright red) monotone. Today I saw a older poll somewhere on the forum for "what color is your vibe". In the results, no one had Lava - zero percent. By contrast, 59 people had Neptune, and several other colors were popular as well. Then I saw in another post that Lava will be discontinued for 2007 models, I assume because it wasn't selling well. What is it about Lava that people don't seem to like it?

when i was choosing my car i had 4 color choices... abyss, platinum, neptune, and salsaI chose platinum because neptune and abyss were auto (abyss had scratches too) and the salsa was a lil off color to me. the color just didnt seem too attractive to me... maybe cuz it was dulll and wasnt washed and waxed? So the car is awesome and each person has their own taste. so if you like it... well GET IT.

It could also be the lack of the Lava vibes that dealerships have in stock. When I bought my vibe, they did not have any Lava vibes in the lot.

look at the poll again. Higher up, there are 20 Lava Vibes. For some reason, "Lava" is on the list twice.I would say go for it!

When I traded in my Taupe PT, the dealer said (course they will say anything) that if it were red it would be worth more. But the red paint cost a couple hundred extra on the PT when new. Perhaps that was the reason.

I have Lava two-tone. But that's only because they didn't have the options I wanted (GT /w NAV) in Satellite. So they found the one in Lava and I took it. It's definitely grown on me.I'm not a fan of Lava in monotone though, it just looks...wierd.

I have a 2004 Lava two-tone as well. I bought it from a Hyundai dealer a year ago and while I wouldn't have normally purchased a hot red car, it was the only used Vibe in the area that had everything I wanted at the right price. I totally love the color now - it's such a HOT car! I especially love how the dash is illuminated red at night - the whole design just makes the car sizzle!Go for Lava. I agree that Salsa is a weird color.
