We got our first shot of hot weather today and i had to use the AC. It took forever to get sorta cold, and when i made it to my destination, the AC didnt even drip out from under my car. the 93 Olds next to me and our 05 Yukon seemed to pour buckets of water out. but no drip on mine. I checked the cables under the glove box and i think they are ok. So do i need a new compressor? Or does the vibe hold onto water and dump it when a pan gets full or somin>?

The Vibe ac is way undersized. If you run on recirc at a high speed you get more cooling but much less dehumidification. If you have any cooling at all, your compressor is probably ok (unless the shaft seal is shot), but you may have low refrigerant charge. Most cars lose charge due to bad o-ring seals.

Its going in for service tommaow...so i guess it will never be as good as a 93 silverado or a 05 yukon..crap..But does yours drip??? AT ALL? mine doesnt even drip-a-drop!

My 05 GT has 3,000 miles and the A/C doesn't get cold for poop. I think the system is just undersized. When I test drove it brand new I tried the A/C in 60 degree weather as it was very sunny and hot in the car...it was no different. Either way it gets comfortable over time but not ice cold or cold cold.

You may just need a recharge too after checking for leaks of course... PLUS, A minor point but is your cabin filter clean? New?

Thanx for all your replys!I replaced the Cabn Fltr two weeks agoAny way i had it recarged and i told them i wanted it SUPER COLD so they recarged it and man was i suprized! It felt like i could make an ice cube. it was the same or colder than our 05 yukon!This is a GM certified vibe so it was still under warenty, but if it wasnt how much does a recharge cost?I also had the linkage for the brakes looked at cuz they squeeked and now its fine!

I wonder if they are all under charged?

Mine allegedly was never undercharged although I had my suspicions, but it still never worked worth a doodie... with any of the numerous compressors that car had on it.

I never checked mine but I wonder if I put a can of freon in if it would help. I can get the fewon with out oil so it should not hurt.

I would not add any to the system unless you have a guage on it as well. The drip you speak of...in this car. Comes from the front. The "tank" as I call it, which drips, is there on the passenger side of the radiator(can't miss it). Since it is so far in front of the car, you won't see drips unless the car is sittitting still. You should also check your temp. control cable. I rate my A/C a 7 or 8 out of 10. My last car was great...a "10". Run on recirc HELPS remove humidity better. This is because you are recyling the interior air. These little wagons actually have a lot of interior volume, aka. more air needed to be cooled. Plus a lot of glass , letting the sun in. They can only put an A/C compressor on that fits the engine size...Yes, there is suppose to be a drip under the car on the front passnger side. Noticed it today.6/29 Silly me...
