I have not figured out the perfect solution to my JVC HU problem yet... HELP!!! I have two options and I have the harnesses for both. I have the very long Metra 70-2003T to relocate the stock stereo to the trunk and add the HU the other end. If I do this I am concerned that I'll still have high level problem some others have described.The other option is to connect the HU directly and forget about the stock unit. I have been told that the stock stereo controls some of the code info for the car which is why you shouldn't completely remove it.What do you all think. I'm at an impass and am anxious to hook this thing up. I'm installing a sweet JVC HU that you can change the colour of the display to match the dash. I also bought the iPod control unit which lets you control the iPod directly through the HU. Have a look:http://mobile.jvc.com/product....age=1

Completely removing the stock HU will not affect anything else in the car - the only things it's really connected to are power, antenna, and in your case the M&T amplifier.Just get rid of the stock HU. You (& the Vibe) don't need it for anything.PS- You may need a line level converter between the JVC HU and the M&T amp as the amp is designed to connect to the HU speaker outs (not pre-amps) and if you connect pre-amp outputs you may hear hissing (white noise) at low volumes & popping. Search the forums (post bodies) for "scosche" and you'll find the part you need.

I replaced my stock cd with aftermarket HU with the short harness adapter with no problem..everything worked fine except some white noise from not having a line level.. I ended up scrapping the moon & tunes amp for aftermarket and now everything sounds awesome

Yes, you do not need the Metra 70-2003T. Just use the short adapter, and as GMJAP said, get a linelevel matcher (Scosche FA-3 or something)
