Well if we can't pick Brazil or Germany, then I will probably have to go with Mexico or maybe England. Mexico looked pretty darn good against Iran today. I would like to say USA, but I haven't seen them play yet. A #5 ranking in FIFA don't mean nothing.

I am going to pick the Czech Republic. From what I have followed, I think they have a great chance.

And that was an increadibly disappointing loss for USA. They were completely unorganized almost the entire game, defense and offense. Everytime they got close to the goal it was a bad pass, or a sloppy looking play. They did not look good at all.

What a let down.I don't know a ton about proffesional soccer, but that game seemed incredibly one sided to me. The US was going backwards with the ball more than forwards. They never seemed to have a real solid possesion. And then they were just lazy on defense. Let's hope the Italy games goes better.

I was watching that Germany match, and the ruttin cable went out due to a thunderstorm in the 72 minute. I ended up missing Germanys goal, and OT, and the shootout.

it was awesome! i was in an open market watching the game in Cologne (Koln) when germany beat argentina....it was absolutely electric and an experience i will never forget!I also watched the netherlands/portugal match in aachen which is a hop/skip/jump from the dutch border so there were some interesting groups in the crowd in the market....the germans don't like the dutch, but being so close, there were plenty of dutch in the crowd.i'll be leaving work early today to catch the german/italy match....should be good!

I usually don't care much about futbol, but am following the cup this year for some reason.the Germany/Portugal third place match ~3 PM EDT Saturday, the Italy/France title match ~2 PM EDT SundayI hope Gerrmany, (as host country), wins Saturday. As for the Italy/France match, I may have to cheer for France, but don't really care who wins as long as it is a good game. edit - Germany 3, Portugal 1

congrats to the azzuri (sp?).while i wasn't cheering for the italians for most of the game, that changed when i saw the stupid head (removed) zidane decided to use....stupid, stupid, stupid and not worthy of a win.to add insult to that, he was already voted the player of the tournament!just not right....

Zidane arguably lost the match for the French since he would have been in the PK and is one of the best at it.It boggles the mind at how he let Materazzi get to him...

Well there was definitely something said to him that made him react like he did, something not very nice. Couple that with hot humid conditions and a very long and stressful game. People's fuses can get a might short. That was definitely a stupid move on his part. Not sure if it cost them the cup or not, but it sure didn't help any.

ESPN.com is reporting that Materazzi called him a "stinking terrorist" - I think it is unfortunate that he did lose his cool, but if Materazzi did indeed call him this, then he deserved the head (removed) and more. The game was good and I thought Zidane's opening goal (in the 9th minute) was just incredibly gutsy to wait for the keeper to make the first move and just pooch it in. However, Materazzi's goal was pure beauty...

It seemed like the refs didn't see Zidane do the head (removed) until it replayed on the big screen. In USA football, it would have been a 15 yard penalty. In hockey, the victim would have been a wimp for being taken out with such a trivial blow, but the officials wouldn't have cared.Congratulations to all you Italy fans :thumbup"
