Insurance and Mods.

Being a total newbie to car mods, I was just curious if there are certain insurance companies that allow performance (and other) modifications? Is there a limit on what you can do? Does brand X insurance allow more modifications than brand Y insurance? Or do car modifiers just not report their mods to their insurance companies?

Laws regarding insurance regulations vary from state to state. Anyone who voluntarily reports any mods to their insurance company deserves to pay double their insurance just for their sheer stupidity. There is really no way for them to know you have modded your car unless you tell them or if you make a claim and they have to send out an adjuster. I seriously doubt that an adjuster would A.) look for mods or B.) know what they were even if they saw them. Usually when an adjuster is sent out, they just take pictures of damage and make notes of what is damaged and where. Otherwise, have fun doing your mods !

There was a thread discussing a similar topic awhile back:
