Okay... who out there knows where the thermometer (sp) for the outside temperature is located? Also, is there a certain +/- on the thermometer? It always seems that my car reads about +5 when I pass all those time/temp signs along the interstate...Just curious...hjwii

i don't know where the thermometer is located, but mine seems to read a bit high as well. there is only one of those bank signs that mine is always dead on with. usually, i am 3 or 4 degrees above what the news or weather channel says.

mine as well seems to be off a few degrees. Dont know if it is due to engine heat?

Outside ambiant air temp sensor is located in front of the rad between it and the inside of the bumper. Pop your hood and look straight down there and look for a wire harness to a senor. It will be the only one there.

I thought about making a shield for it since mine too runs 2-3 degrees higher then the actual and must be getting a little heat from the engine or radiator.My PT does the same and will even pick up a vehicle in front of me at a light sometimes if the conditions are right. Funny to watch it climb higher and higher, then when the light turns it drops back down!

the sensor is in front of the rad, not behind it. So it does have cooler air hitting it. I doubt its getting any heat from the engine. But you have to wonder at those signs and how accurate they are as well.

Mine reads the same as my home thermometer before I start the car in the morning. It seems to be very sensitive to changes of even a degree or two. It's definately a great gadget to have, especially at or near the freezing point for predicting road conditions.

Yeah, I agree... I watch it carefully when it's near that freezing mark. Mine is fairly accurate to the host of temperature marquis around this area. The only time it's off is when the sun is beating down on apparently where their temp sensor is, especially on colder weather.One thing though, when I use the touchless car wash, the cold temp of the water causes the sensor to be way low until it apparently dries off.I do notice the gauge going up a degree or 2 when at a stop light, but that is expected because that IS the ambient temp.Dave
