spark plugs & oil

Today, I woke up and decide i'd tune up the Vibe Gt a bit.lately it has been running a bit rough while idling, And it has been 11k miles since the last oil change.I was told the car needs Denso Iridium IK20 @ $12.99 each. ouch! Those and an oil filter cost me $60.00, Then Mobile 1 extended $27.50 @ Wally World. that's some serious cash. After the plugs were installed, I went for a test drive man what a difference they made. I did find that 3 of the 4 plugs had been shorting out at the insulator and the boot, and 2 of them showed really heavy signs of it.I figure who ever installed them must have been touch the insulator while installing them. I would hope the factory does'nt touch them while building the Engines.

I have been thinking about replacing my plugs for a while. How many miles were on your car? It sounds like it made a big difference. Do you know if there are any symptoms or signs that I should look for that would tell me if I need to replace the plugs?

I think that those particular plugs feel better that stock regardless of mileage. At least on the GT.

What mileage were you at when you replaced them? How was it, the last time I did plugs was in a '97 F-150. It was a nightmare- might as well of been a van.

the plugs are or should be very easy to get to, they are right under neath your engine cover
