Hey,What do you guys think of the new Toyota Yaris? The 4-door is al ittle smaller than the corolla but there is surprisingly a lot of room in them. I test drove the automatic and that damn thing has pep! I was friggin surprised.

one of my freinds went to buy one Sat, and ended up coming home in Scion xA instead....mainly because the Yaris doesn't even offer ABS, and she thought that was a must have. She came out great on the xA though.....off the lot for under $15K

I don't know if I really like it... My first impression wasn't good at all, I saw my first one in this color that resembled something I've picked out of my noise. It looks like it was that "olive" color according to their site... And I really, really can't warm up to the center mounted cluster even after all these years. It just looks goofy. The options are very confusing... But from what I see, it doesn't look like it is that great of a deal. It looks great initially but the time you start adding stuff that the others probably give you standard it gets pricey! There are a lot of basic items that I've become accustomed to seeing standard, and they're optional here. I piled on stuff up to $16,400 on a sedan over on kbb.com. I bet you could easily top $17,000 if you added all the little cheeseball Toyota accessories. Side air bags and curtains plus 4-wheel discs with ABS would have been nice to see standard, even the most basic $13,000 Hyundai Accent has those. Same deal with the Fit. The problem I have with optional safety equipment is that I'll never be able to find a car equipped with that stuff, and I've heard mumblings of the same about this car scattered about the 'net. Bummer! All in all, this is an interesting car, but I'll have to pass on it. There are better bargains out there...

I'm sure the Yaris is a great little car, but I could never live with the "cyclops" dash!

imo that is fugly, it looks so cheap but i guess if you want a cheap car its gota look the part. i cant stand that center gauge cluster it feels like your looking out of your way to get important info. so theres my 2 cents

two futuristic.... i think "FUGLY" is the perfect word. The inside is just plain boring. a atomic looking cluster for the ACand the center cluster makes you work harder to see how fast your goin.

I'll never be a fan of centre dash that requires me to take my eye completely off the road to view.

Why do they make the dash like that? If it's just to be different, different is bad VERY BAD.Fugly is definately the word for it.I just notices something else, The HVAC controls remind me of a norelco razor

the shifter looks almost exaclty like that of my cousin's aveo!as a matter of fact, the whole damn car reminds me of one. not too bad though if you ask me. if you are broke and need a cheap, reliable gas sipper, that's your cup of tea right there. not to mention the aftermarket support that's sure to pour out like a waterfall.

The new dash setup is bound to become standard on all cars eventually. All the Scions have them. They wouldn't do it if it didn't make sense. It is a little different to get used to but sometimes the steering wheel gets in the way of seeing the speedometer, etc.

not all the scions have the guages in the middle, the tc does not or at least according to the pic on the scion site. so is the yaris basicly a scion xa with a face lift on the guages

the sedan version i rreally like its a great little car but i cannot stand that center guage cluster. and not all scions have that center cluster. the tc has a normal cluster. the 3door version is super fugly.

I do like the 2-tone dash treatment, I think that makes it look a bit more "upscale," not as cheap and cheesy as it would if it were all just one chunk of monotone plastic. But I still say it is a bit too far "out there" for me. Gauge cluster aside, the other design elements of the dash are just bizarre as well. That Norelco shaver, hehehe! I think Hyundai has my vote for a better looking dash... It's not as "exciting" to look at, pretty plain, but I definitely think the Accent's dash may not induce vomiting as easily as the Toyota.

I thought ergonomics was the key thing now... I do not see how that cluster is ergonomically better. Such as a Heads Up Display.

The scions are overpriced now that they have jacked the prices up.

the centre dash allows them to build this car anywhere in the world without too much of a tooling change.i find it funny how many of you talk about how dangerous it is looking at the middle for your speed but if i remember (vaguely) many of you talk about installing LCD movie screens in your cars! ...not to mention the upgraded audio head units ...half of those require a bit of attention.i've drivin the echo and recently the yaris and i think they're great...i would be willing to say that at LEAST 60% of the population doesn't need anything more than a vehicle the size of a yaris!we're seriously looking at replacing one of our cars with one soon.

Saw my first Yaris on the morning commute today. My first impression was that it was just a Corolla, but I realized it was too small. I think it's an improvement over the style of the Echo. Not a bad looking car if you need a fuel efficient commuter.

The Yaris looks nice all streeted up. I like the look of the sedan, not really sure about the lines on the back of the hatchback - and (off topic a little) the commercials are kinda retarded. I get the feeling the japanese didn't quite get the American things. Shouldn't the one with the piggy bank not be able to break it (hence it doesn't break the bank). The nozzle spider commercial would make more sense to me if the car destroyed the spider and then took off, not taking the time to refill for every little drop...anyways, I guess that's preference. Also, I thought it was evidence that the guage cluster was designed for easier conversion from left to right drive (considering the photo that was chopped is a right drive)...

they have very odd commercials. i don't understand them.

yea...lets break piggy banks, suck up things like cups and put them in compatments, and smush a spider and drink its gutts for fuel..interesting commercials they are..The cruse control lever looks like a vibes with rounded edeges!
