One thing that a lot of us use just as much maybe more...is our CELLULAR PHONES! With that in mind, what kind do you own? Me I have a Samsung N400 (Vision Phone). I like it a lot too, Ecspecially when I hit the road...what about you?

I have a piece-of-crap Motorola T2260.My painstaking long contract (shouldn't have signed one) is up in a few months and I will probably switch companies and phones altogether.I have only more frequently started using my phone, but not to an extent as many people.

I have a Motorola V60. Small and lightweight.

I have a Nokia 5165 I think. It's not the best--but it was free, so it's good enough for me....

I have a Samsung SCH-850 for the time being... similar to the one shown here, but silver. I've never seen the black one actually, but can't find a photo of the silver one. I think I'm going to get a new one in a couple of weeks and change this one to a "pay as you go" phone for my boyfriend.

I have the Sanyo 4900 with Sprint.

Since I'm a geek and techtoys are my thing (nickname "gadget.goddess") - a Treo 270. http://www.handspring.com/products/comm ... ndex.jhtml If you're a PDA user (i.e. a Palm), it's incredibly convenient to have your phone and PDA converged into one device.

A crappy Nikia 252. It makes the job, no more.

Scott, that's a sweet toy. I'm definitely jealous. Doesn't matter that I don't know whether it works or not - it still looks extremely cool.

Cell phones, at least in cars and in their current form, will probably go the way of the pet rock. While it's clear from the number of people I see driving while talking on their cell phones that people WANT to be able to phone chat while driving, many states are outlawing them because of the distraction they seem to be.I think some smart car maker should simply make "phone" an integrated feature of the car audio system. Steering wheel buttons could change "mode" from AM to FM to XM to CD to Phone. Another set would change volume. Mode would change automatically to "Phone" when there was an incoming call. There would be a microphone built into the steering wheel, and a jack for the optional ear/mic headset if desired for more privacy from passengers. Dialing would be by voice command ("Call Grandma at home", or "Dial 1 8 0 0 5 5 5 1 2 1 2" for example). With no device to look at or fiddle with, talking on the phone should be no more distracting than talking with a passenger. Yes, I know that is a bit distracting, but something they probably won't outlaw.The cell phone you walk around with will probably be condensed down to a ring and a bracelet/watch. Hold your hand up to your face, as though propping your head up. Finger tips across your ear, and wrist near your jaw/mouth. A small speaker integrated into a simple ring would receive speech wirelessly from the bracelet/watch where the microphone is. Antenna and other circuitry would be woven into the watchband. Video, you say? If you wear glasses, and new frame will simply project whatever video/picture signal "magically" in front of you. No glasses? KSNeptune,I totally agree with you!! I say within 5 years, most of us will be wearing wristwatch phones with wireless earphones. The video eyeglasses are probably a bit farther off, but not by much!!

I recently upgrade to the Audiovox CDM-8200. It does everything but walk the dog. It even has a speakerphone feature on it so I don't have to wear an earpiece in the car. How is the cell service in your area? That can be a problem.

Hate to burst your futuristic bubble, but my boss' 1999 Lincoln Navigator had all these features as a factory option, except for the XM radio, of course. The phone was built into the armrest, so for privacy, you could pick up the receiver and talk, otherwise a small mic on the B-pillar picked up your voice. The radio would automatically mute when you got an incoming call and it had the controls on the steering wheel that you mention. It had 32 preset voice activated numbers you could program and I think another 112 preprogrammed non-voice activated slots. When you received a call, the incoming call came over the car's speakers. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen on a car.My cell phone is the new Motorola T-720c. It has the color screen and the voice activated dialing features, along with many more I have yet to try. Seems that everyone I know has one of these exact same phones now. I went with Verizon Wireless service as they had the best plan at the lowest price for me. I paid $300 for it, and got a $100 rebate. Now Verizion is offering the same phone for $50 after the rebate. Oh, am I p---ed. But I like the phone!

I agree and disagree with you in a few ways on the car phone issue. I feel that talking on the phone while driving is dangerous, stupid, and should be outlawed in all states (unless using a hands free device). I think that at some point in the near future, more and more states will outlaw them. People won't be giving up cell phone use in the car, so auto manufacturers will likely be building into new "common" cars many of the features that you mention and were in the Navigator. However, several carmakers have already had some sort of cell phone built into their cars and now they are virtually all gone. I think the auto industry got burned a little by this premature venture and will be reluctant at first to reaccept the car phone idea. Many aftermarket solutions for hands free phone use while driving already exist. Some have a cradle that you set your cell phone in while driving and it uses microphones and speakers to let you talk hands free on the phone while you drive. These are the kind of devices that I predict will be popular in the future. You can use your own cell phone (that many already have and have a service plan) right in your car in a safer way. No additional contracts or service charges. I like the idea, sign me up.

I still have the phone that came with my contract. A Nokia 5185i. The cover on mine is dark blue like the color of my Vibe.

Just got a Nokia 8265.. however it's my work phone. This thing is pretty cool and the price (I didn't buy it) was reasonable. Once my contract expires in a few months, I may dump my Motorola and get a Nokia like this.

don't bother unless you never plan to use it. My wife is a regional sales manager for Cellular One. The best phone on thew market as far as relaibility or signal would have to be the Nokia 3300 series or the new 6300 series. I'd check those out before getting one of those little phones.
