Accident messes up front paint

Well unfortunately due to someone driving foolishly(seems like everyone here in LA) I had a minor accident where the front nose of my Vibe scraped the side of another car. I inspected it and it looks like the black paint from the other persons car has scraped off and is stuck on the front of my car. Its a small area, only a few inches on the edges, and I was wondering what's the best way to fix this. I had already bought some touch up paint before for some nicks in the paint, so I could probably use it. But how do I get the other paint off and prep the area before I apply the new paint? Thanks for any insight! -Dave

Well I got the "Magic" eraser and it really lived up to it's name! Unfortunately thought it couldn't get all the paint off the bumper. It did a good job on most of it, but it just couldn't handle the last bit, no matter how hard I scrubbed. What's the next step do you think? Light sandpaper?-dave

did you moisten it before using it? i wouldn't use sandpaper. a light buffing may get it out. i dunno other than that.

Get some 3M adhesive remover. Just be very carefull with it. Get a paper towel and fold it, then spray it on one of the corners fairly well, see if it will just rub off easily then if not apply a little pressure. I used this stuff all the time to take off road tar and stuff like that. It won't hurt paint but anything else I wouldn't use it on. I think you can get it at auto parts stores.
