Rock the car - squeak, squeak, squeak

When I get out of my 2004 Vibe, the car squeaks. Sounds like it's coming from the front driver side. If I rock the car back and forth, I can hear the squeak. But, sometimes the car is quiet like it should be. Can it be weather related? Noise when cold? Any idea what the noise is? Of course, when I take it to the dealer, the noise is gone. Any ideas are appreciated.

Sounds like a strut going south on ya. Does it happen in the warmer times?

I can't pin it on air temperature, but it only happens after the car has been dirven for a while. So, the car has to be warm for this to happen.

My 03 Vibe does the exact same thing. Sometimes I can recreate it other times I can not. A friend of mine had a similar problem on his 04 Jeep Wrangler. AFter 15..yes 15 trips to the dealer, it was a body mount that was not tight...where the body is bolted to the frame. I'm just letting mine go..rather than a ton of trips to the "we don't find anything" dealer, it isn't that bad.

Thanks for the tip. I want to get it fixed while under warranty. It might also affect future resale.

Mine does that as well. It is most pronounced when the car is on an incline. I will have to check out the body mount suggestion.

i would guess 9 times out 10 that it is a mount......wether a strut mount or engine mount..there are the most annoying things to have to hear.....doe sit do it when the car is push down or only when it is pushed side to side?

When I push down or push the car forward.

Hey guys I just took my car to Toyota and they have found that the gasket around the exaust manifold is the cause of my squeak and yes my sqeak comes on the same way...just getting out of the car and the sqeak is not present when the ebrake off. It is costing me 250CAN to get it replaced and fixed and just as an FYI Vibe Manifold gaskets are not the same as the Toyota versions so you have to buy it from GM from talking to the dealer, they are the same price. Now I am actually at home waiting to pick up my car. I will give y'all the skinny when I get my car to see if it solves the problem.Cheers!Spyder

So here is the skinny so far. I cannot reproduce my squeaks at this present time. I did see the manifold gasket and it is freak'n rusted to ****. And, with or without the ebrake, I am squeak free! From talking to a few of the folks at toyota this is a common problem in the Corolla's and I am just guessing since we have similar cars, the problems are also similar. Anyways, if you have a squeak that you cannot get rid of and it seems to come on with the the symptoms listed earlier...be open minded and try to make your GM or Toyota dealer(s) open minded to this problem.Cheers!Spyder
