Shocking!

I have been having a big problem with static electricity when exiting my Vibe. I'm not sure if it is the fabric on the seats or what. I don't have this problem with my other vehicle. Is there something I can do to rid the electric charge besides touching metal (ouch!) or is it just my "electric personality"! Thanks.

Dude...I've had my 05 Vibe GT for one month, bought it as a leftover, has cloth seats. I get shocked every time I step out of the car and grab the top corner of the door to close it. I am so used to it I make a goofy face, cringing, without even knowing I do it!

It always happens with the low humidity in Winter. Even with my leather seats I get shocked. It should start getting better now that it is warming up and the humidity is increasing.

if you put your feet on the ground first then get out while holding/touching metal you will/should not get zapped... ORonce out before touching anything use your key to touch the metal first, instead of your fingers and you shouldnt be zapped.that spray stuff might work but its smell is not very plesant.

This works, tried and true: when you are getting out make sure you grab the metal of the door somwhere before you ever move out of your seat. Keep ahold of it as you get out and you're set, no shocks. I used to get shocked so hard I could feel it all the way up my arm sometimes! Still get shocked sometimes when I'm in a rush or not paying attention.

I shock myself every now and then. I think it has something to do with the weather and what I'm wearing. I'm used to it but always touch metal before pumping fuel.*spark* OWWW *BOOOM!!!*

i've always wondered if a polyester/goretex jacket would show small burn/melt marks where the spark was generated ....so i always take it for the team and try to shock myself on my hand!

Just think of it as tough love from the vibe... your not modding it enough so its reminding you to stop goin to the drive through, and buy some more mods!!! I get shocked everytime too... one time i was like 30 feet away and my fiance heard the crack from the shock!!! Lots of cursing after!

I got out the other evening and was going to check on my door panel so I went to pop the little plastic panel off where the tweeter normally is and I saw a bolt of static come from my finger and it was still about an inch away from the body of the car. It made my finger numb the rest of the night.

I got shocked by my former car, but not the lightening-from-my-hand I get with the Vibe. I've just gotten used to touching the door metal with the back of my hand every time I get out.

I have a suggestion:Once you are outside of your car, instead of touching it immediately with your hand, push the door closed with your elbow. Knees work too. The shock is less extreme (you hear the shock but you don't feel it).
