Are you talking about the area between the cladding and the body? i.e. the 'gasket' if you will that goes along the wheel opening? Both 2-tones and monotones have this piece. It starts out dark but when it gets some age on it, uhhh...That could be the super duper high quality rubber used in this particular application... It only took mine a year or so until those cheap pieces faded into this orangish/rust sort of color. The color is right for rust, but the material wasn't metal so it couldn't be rust. They really look bad now, but then again so does that cladding that has faded out all the way around, so I'm not bothering fixing them, not worth it on this car. I had a pic of it around somewhere but I don't know where it is, I can't find it when searching.I don't know if that's the actual problem you're having or not, but I figured I'd run that by ya.
