I'm going to get one of those H2 bad boys when I win the lottery. I'm also going to get the new retractable hard top 2 seater Cadillac after I win too. I'm surprised how many H2's I see these days in the Chicago suburbs. I usually see 1 or 2 a day. I've got a good chance of winning the lottery, right?

H2 is in the same branch as Ford Expedition, Lincon Navigator, Cadilac Escalade. They are big, take lot of gas, not very practical for city driving, expensive, andmost of the time, off-road abilities are completly unusefull for the owner.Big waste of money, but if you want to be remarked, good choice.

quote:Well I agree with you but not on one point...the offroad capabilities of the H2 are far superior than the capabilities of the others you have named!I never said bad thing about off-road capabilities of any of those SUV. I just stated most of the owner of those vehicule do not use those capabilities at all. They stay on the highway.

The H2's are pretty sweet. I see about one per week around here. The pontiac dealer where I bought my Vibe sells Hummers as well. My salesman kept trying to jokingly sell me one. I told him I would gladly take one for the same price as the Vibe I was looking at. That finally ended the joking . IMO, they would be better if the interior was larger like an Excursion, Tahoe, etc. But then again, the H2 is supposed to be very unique.

I'll take a sports car over any truck especially for that kind of money.

The H2 is definitely too large for my liking. I prefer smaller cars.

I like the H2, but it's a fastasy vehicle. One of the cops in my town has one, I see it every day. It takes up 2 parking spots in their lot.

The secret to having cash for expensive vehicles when adult, is :1. Avoid having any kids. Also marry someone who also has a full time job and "loves to work". And if you can, avoid buying anything on a credit card you can't pay off completely when the statement comes due. It also helps to refinance any high interest loans (like home loans) whenever the interest rates drop, then keep paying the higher amount. Pay off the house ASAP.2. Or win the Lottery.3. Or abuse the power and position your job gives you by stealing from your customers/patrons/citizens.4. Or inherit from richer older relatives. 5. Or spend your life on "The Price Is Right" until you've won the car.I'm sure there are other ways. But 1, 2, and 4 above are my favorites.

Or you could go to school, get a good job, work hard, and use your brains when making major life decisions? Then you can afford to have kids and the other things in life that make you happy. Kids should never be viewed as a curse or strictly as a drain on the pocketbook. This kind of view makes me totally sick.

I never said kids were a curse, although I know a few who seem to play that role well. I only said that you'd have more money if you didn't have to spend any on kids.I'd gladly trade a car or two for a couple of kids. It just didn't happen, though. And I'm sorry to hear you've made yourself totally sick. I suggest Closing your eyes. KSNeptune

I see a lot of them around this part of Ohio. I think the H2 will become common place when you consider the competition. If the H2 runs around $50k, then I could see a lot of people taking that over a Suburban, Escalade, Navigator, and so on. I've seena lot of Tahoes and Suburbans for example approaching $50k and they don't stand out. If I needed something like that, I'm sure the H2 would be my choice.

Sorry there, KS, just started to sound like the typical narcisistic rhetoric that is rampant in America today. I'm also glad to report that I'm feeling much better now and I will soon be able to continue reading posts . If I just closed my eyes, that would make me like so many others---just another one of the sheeple.

It's not a police vehicle, the town can't afford them, they drive a Chevy Blazer, and we only have one for the Chief. We only have 4 cop cars. Oh, this cop is single and no kids. Lives in town and has an apartment.

quote:I am thinking about buying a Tundra 4*4 or a new Nissan Pathfinder. I was thinking the Pathfinder is a lettle better suited maybe? Tell me what ya guys think.Tundra is more a truck (has a bed, can off-road, I believe it has body on frame design, probably good body flex, alot of aftermarket support).Pathfinder is more like a minivan (leather, not much body flex, not much ground clearance, I think it has unibody design, limited aftermarket support) The new pathfinder isn't really suited for off-roading.What are you needs? Those are two very different vehicles...

Interesting fact about the H2, they like to catch on fire. My friend works in a body shop for a major dealership in the area. They have had 2 come back for repairs after the electronics caught fire. Just save the aggravation and get the original Hummer. Yeah they are over $100K(us) but you will never have trouble in the snow.

You can actually get a tax break if you own either of the Hummers in the US. Since the weight of the vehicle is over 6000 pounds it is considered a farm vehicle. If you own one check with your tax advisor today!

Have you thought about the new 4runner?I have an Xterra and I can imagine it would be pretty tight for someone who is 6'4". I think the pathfinder is better for this, but I am not sure. (how do you fit into your Vibe if you are so big? I am pretty sure there is more room in my Xterra than my vibe)A few more questions for you:1) Do you plan to off-road? 2) Do you plan to haul things? 3) Will this mostly be a minivan (shuttle runs to the mall and trips to the market)? These guys can probably help with information on the Pathfinder:http://www.nissanoffroad.net/http://www ... nx.comEach of these sites have great resources and a forum to post your questions before you buy.

Both those choices have 4wd, but I would say that the Tundra is probably far superior in the off-road area (ladder frame vs unibody). And in the hauling and towing category as well. The Pathfinder in recent years have resorted to being more "cushy" and has compromised its off-road capabilities to be more comfortable on-road.Definte trade off between the two. The Tundra sounds better for Farrm use, but the Pathy will be a better daily driver and make the trip back and forth in more comfort. It is also better for carrying people and kids.
