personnally I like it, one of the reason I picked a Vibe instead of a trix

What're you going to do, get caps, just remove them, or are you just talking about the cross-bars?

I want to give the car a cleaner look, so I guess the roof caps would be the way to go? Not sure, that is why I am asking you guys, the experts

Lie the roof rack better. Also why I took the Vibe and not the Trix.

O.K. here is my opinion on removal of the roof rack. when you look at the side view of a vibe with the rails removed the rear portion of the roof that curves down, just doesn't look right to me. the thin carbon fiber replacements or the thicker ones try and even out the rear roof line a little better but to actually be able to pull it off I think that a rear spoiler has to be there.heck, just powdercoat the rails black and the rails will look great.http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...2.jpg

I wouldn't use a pole to remove the roof racks, you're likely to damage something that way.oh wait, you said poll, not pole. nevermind Just taking off the cross bars isn't gonna change the look from the side. Removing the whole rack definitely has an impact on the appearance, and if you never use it, it shouldn't matter, except what you think looks better. You can always put it back on if you need it.Do whatever looks best to you, what I prefer shouldn't matter, so I didn't vote

I was thinking of removing mine but have decided to powdercoat it black instead. I have heard that the roof caps don't fit all that great.

I thought about removing mine, but I'm liking the powdercoating option... Any durability issues if it's been painted? I've used it maybe twice (christmas tree being the one I can remember), but I don't want to cut down on the utility of the rack...

the powdercoat can be almost any color and is "tough as nails". I dropped one of mine the first time I had them coated and it didn't even scratch.

Take it off Take it off Take it off (you guys ever watch gerry springer?) I'd take it off and only if the holes can be filled properly, else i'd keep it. The powder coating option would be good too.

I would leave them on myself... the powdercoat thing may be an option that would look good!

powder coating is sweet, my uncle has a powder coating setup and oven in his garage so if mine fit in there id do it. it puts the little powder stuff into the metal pores so it almost becomes the metal, if you bend or hammer the metal the color will still be there, its only if you scratch or sand will the powder coat be taken off..very tough stuff! i vote that because i sorta like the roof rack

I would keep the roofrack. It's a reason why I prefer a Vibe to a Matrix.
