So, I took the Franken-Vibe in yesterday to get an oil change since the oil in the used engine was still the same from the CorollaS I robbed. As they were checking everything they showed me the tranny fluid and suggested I get it changed. I guess it's a regular thing to do at 25-30k mi. He showed me the old fluid and it looked like a purplish-grey color and he said it should be pink. They hooked it up to a machine that cycles new fluid in and pulls a portion of the old out. The machine has 2 windows, 1 showing the new fluid that is going in, and the other showing the old fluid coming out. OMFG, my old fluid was almost black! Even after the flush it's still a dark cherry color, but it's gotta be better than it was! He suggested I hook up the tranny cooler I have that might help, especially the way I drive it! Anywho, the car definitely seems to be running smoother and quiter after the change. Everything together was $150! Kind of pricey, but at least I should be safe!

It's alive and running! Just missing a support bracket for the S/C that broke when I was uninstalling the S/C. My bro-in-law is going to weld it back together for me. Otherwise, I'm good-to-go! Awesome! It might be a good idea to get it flushed again at your next oil change. Just to be on the safe side.I'll be getting mine flushed for the first time next month along with my rear differential. Gonna cost about $250 for a regular oil change, tranny flush and rear diff oil change. I'll be at about 20,000 miles by then.

Ok! ill definately have to get my taxes and buy a spoiler and hopefully get the system in before i come down.So i can have some tunes and the lil spoiler can help me keep my big you know what on the ground while i top her out on the freeway. Ive only gotten it up to 100 mph... i wanna top it out just to feel speed (of course it will be where there are no cars) ima safe speeder!!! Maybe.... jus maybe ill have an exhaust. gotta see if i can spend that pretty pennie on it!

Great news Jason! Now I MUST make a trip down there...and you DEFINITELY need to have Ryan make you a vinyl for the "Frankenvibe" --- lol, that's classic.

Do most places allow you to bring your own tranny fluid? I'd like to drop in some Amsoil in there but I'm sure it would even be more expensive at the place than me buying it seperately. It takes 12 quarts, doesn't it? (auto) Did you notice better shifts after this? I dropped the pan once and drained it again 3000 miles later and she's still pretty damn black...

I just drained 3 quarts from my friends Vibe and switched to Amsoil.. I will drain another 3 quarts next oil change.. untill its clean.. its a little longer method buy you don't have to pay for tranny machine charge .. cheers

I'm not sure what it takes, but I think it's 10 quarts. Check to manual to be sure. The machine really didn't do that great of a job anyways.
