Well, today was the first time I've experience the 1ZZFE hot start problem. However, after reading through several threads about it, I'm not sure what happened was the same thing.Specifics: 2005 Vibe w/5k miles. Drove the car for about 25 minutes at 40mph, then parked the car for about five hours. Went to start it and it didn't want to catch for about three seconds; turned the ignition to off, tried again and she started up no problem. Anything else I've read seems to indicate the hot start issue took place within an hour or so of being parked. Has anyone had the "hot start" issue with such long intervals?Thanks,Cougar Vibe

Yes, both of my '05s have done it once in the past 6 months. Wouldn't start during several seconds of cranking, turn key off and try again, then fires right up. What's up with that.

The time frame on my 05 has been anywhere from 20 mins to a few hours... exact same problem.

Same thing here- I can't find any correlation between the starting issue and how recently the Vibe's been driven.

I wish they would figure out what the problem is and actually get it fixed for everyone out there that is having this problem... it's really annoying.

FWIW, I experience a similar random glitch in my G6. Difference is, it's not a no-start issue, but rather a "the engine started but the starter keeps cranking" issue.

Correct.The starting sequence is all computer controlled. You just "touch" the key to the start position and the computer auto-starts the engine. There is a glitch in many 05 and 06 G6 models (and possibly Malibus as well) that causes the car to occasionally over crank and keep the starter going even after the engine has fired.On the same note, however, once the engine is running, you can't accidentally blow the starter up by turning the key to start. The computer locks out the starter once the engine is running, so turning the key to start while the engine is already running results in nothing happening.It rocks.

There is a TSB on this problem. TSB 05-06-04-074 - hot soak issue. Resolution: new PCM

Unfortunately the said "fix" doesn't solve monsts problems.
