well, my air filter for my CAI mysteriously disapeared, so i went to ptuning and ordered a "replacement filter" (yes i went to the proper kit and clicked "order replacement filter")got it in the mail yesterday, it's a universal big (removed) filter that won't even fit in the area to get anywhere near my intake opening! now i have to deal with shipping it back and blah blah blah and try to get the one that came with the kit! tonight i will be installing a temporary ghetto filter. (a thin stocking) i figure it's better than having nothing until i can get the proper one.damn.

AEM has a new NO oil air filter. All you need to do is rinse it off every 10K miles! It's advertised to filter down to 1 micron.

Had a similar problem with K&N lately. I ordered a replacement filter for my Ghia, (oval, chrome, 2 9/16" inlet) what came in was round, black and 1 1/2" inlet, but the box had the right part number. So I called them, they asked that I ship back the wrong filter and they would reimburse me (which they never did) and they shipped me a new one. When that arrived, same thing, right box, wrong filter. So another call to K&N, talked to a guy named Leon, who FINALLY took care of my problem after ordering one from the warehouse so he could verify it before sending it out (thank you Leon!). Took about 3 weeks to solve it. Not sure if this helps or not, but I built my own K&N filter. I took (and trashed) the filter material off of a cheap ($20) cone filter and fit the rubber inlet and chrome disk (back of filter) into a K&N filter for a Caterpillar (picked up from Checker for $30, it was miss-ordered and they were going to junk it). Then sealed the two pieces together with gasket material and a big hose clamp, everything fit perfectly. Now the filter rests on top of the driving light in the front fender and does not fall out regardless of how loose the hose clamp is. The only downside is I have to remove the CAI every time I recharge the filter.

How does one go missing in the first place? Your intake sits in the bumper as you know. unless your missing your inner wheel liner... were is your filter going to go?

final update:i had to purchase another filter (come to find out, it's the same one that goes on the TDI) once they get the other filter back, they will reimburse the credit card for the shipping and the filter that was wrong. no discount, no store credit, nothing! they simply said it wasn't their fault because injen had it listed wrong. kiss my (removed) ptuning. i was inconvenienced, i should at least get something out of the deal!
