Cargo Mat and road noise

I picked up my Vibe last night so I haven't had too much of a chance yet to check everything out on it. I bought the all season mats and a cargo mat from the dealer when I was getting the car. I was a little surprised to open the cargo mat box and it was carpet. I thought it would be all season as well. But when they looked it up the only one listed was the carpeted one. I've seen some of the posts on here about people trying different things to cut down on road noise in the back. Would it be advantageous to mount some thick rubber to the back of the carpeted cargo mat? Would it help at all with noise? Do you think the rubber would leave a mess on the plastic back there when it gets hot in the summer?

I bought a piece of anti-fatigue mat from Lowes to make my own cargo mat. It is grey colored rubber/foam that matches perfectly to the cargo plastic, and will stick in place nicely. I did notice that it muffled the rattling coming from under my storage lid as well. It will not melt in hot weather, and you can simply put a piece under your mat if you really want.My old pictures in this thread no longer work, but it should give you a little more information. I made the mat back in 2002, and I still use it now. http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=1If this sounds like what you are looking for, I can post a picture for you.

Thanks for the reply. I'll go check out Home Depot and see what type of stuff they can have that I can put under the carpet mat.
