Finally broke down and bought an ipod. i told myself i would not get one, but after searching and searching for an MP3 player that had play lists, photo capabilities, and a min of 20 GB, the price just made sense. throw that in with a sweet sweet deal from my Best Buy hook up here, I not only snagged one for me, but one for the hubby... just cause I love him (awwww.... ) so, now i have a ton of questions on how to use this thing and especially regarding the video portion. i have some vids that i made in windows movie maker and want to be able to play them on my ipod. i'm told that i need to get quicktime pro and that will convert those to ipod (avi) format. then the next question is how do i then import that file?? also, i use limewire, so how do i import any vids in there to my itunes? does itunes work like limewire where it stores the music file on the computer somewhere? if so, how do i consolidate both folders so i don't have duplicate copies of everything??? i know, lots of questions, but hey! i'm a first time ipod user and Phil hasn't a clue on how these things work either. so please, you ipod gurus (Kari, Mike) help two of your fellow GVC-ers out!

You're right on with the format of the videos. They have to be in a Quicktime compatible format. As for importing them, just find them on your computer and drag them into iTunes. Or, use the "Add to Library" under the file menu. That's greatly simplified, but I can help more if needed.

Handbrake is your friend. It can convert most DVD's to a format that iTunes can use. Then you just let it reformat it for the ViPod, and *BAM* portable movies!! I have 5 or 6 full length movies, plus quite a lot of TV.

My iPod is a lowly, old, decrepit 3rd generation that doesn't even have a color screen and sure doesn't play video, so I'm afraid I'm of no help here.

i took ym video ipod back because i spent hours loading it thrice and each time it lost it.plus its takes a good 3-4 hours per movie to convert.great idea, but the processing power required to make it an everyday concenience not quite there.i prefer my location free tv.but, to each his own... its probably nice to travel with

I figured out the drag function of dragging files from one window and into my tunes program that came with the ipod. fortunatly for me my files were in MP3 format already, no converting needing. I don't know if I'll ever need video on mine though but I do have all roughly 700 songs off my computer on it.
