Turn headlights off?

How can I have the vibe running with the lights off? I thought the parking brake being on would allow the lights to stay off when started, but ..nope. Therea time when I need the car running but the lights need to be off.Example: if at a campground and need to use some electric but don't want the car battery to get low I need to run the car for awhile, but I don't want to disturb other camps hundereds of feet away with headlights shinning in camp.I really think GM is taking these "satey" options way too far.I'm affraid the answer is going to be a wiring diagram and and some altering?

I clipped a wire coming from the DRL control - giving me manual control over the headlights and deactivating the auto headlights AND DRLs.highly recommended

If you don't have the autolights disconnected then pulling the hand brake won't work. I have an 05 and have the autolights off and it works for me.

I own a 2005 Vibe and can't seem to do anything to get those headlamps or dimmers off at night. I even took it to the dealer and they can't find a solution. I had a rep call me from GM but I can't seem to get him to call me back. I've left three messages but he nevers calls back. What seems to be the problem with GM reps?
